Can someone help me with GAP boys sizes

My DS has some gap boys pyjamas he got as a gift for Christmas, which fit great and inside they just say 8 ... so what size is that on the website?

He has a few hand me down tops that are gap S, but looking on their size chart it says it's equivalent to size 6-7, but I'd say 6-7 in most other brands is small on him, but the gap S bits seem to still fit. So do they come up bigger. I feel I order stuff online and then spend all y time spending it back !

I find that Gap come up a bit small, but I do have giant children!

My DC2 wears a S and 5-6yrs usually. My DC1 wears a M and he usually wears 7-8.

I find Gap sizes quite generous apart from their PJs which are usually skinny fit!

Gaps kids sizes are on the small side I find.

My solid nearly nine year old is getting a touch big for M but still fits in. But the L trouser length is way to long.

My skinny just 7 year old is too lanky for S but fits her.

DD has tons of gap stuff (lived near outlet before they closed ) and 8 is usually their M.
