Making joggers look more "fashionable"

bingsulaflop · 28/01/2022 20:15

Hi,

So pretty much what the title says, at the moment when the weather is a bit up and down, I usually wear joggers and a t shirt over the weekend/just doing visiting or maybe popping to a shop or two but I either look verging on homeless or too "dressed up" just to pop to the shop.

My clothes aren't worn or tatty btw just maybe too casual.
I've seen loads of joggers with trainers and a basic t shirt that seem to just look effortless and would love for the spring coming in and when it's too cold yet to wear spring clothes.

How do others make it look so effortless and stylish?
I've quite wide hips (a 14 on bottoms) and small bust if that helps.
Or anywhere that does really nice joggers that aren't too pricey but still nice enough that I can wear on the nursery run?

Seen these in H&M but typically not my size Hmm

Search 'slim fit joggers' and you'll see ones that don't look dumpy.

I have some nice ones from Sainsbury's TU actually do maybe try there.

careerchangee · 28/01/2022 20:33

They're perfect @HumunaHey thank you!

Would you say they're true to size?

DorothyBinns · 28/01/2022 20:46

Check out Lucy Dodwell (website or Instagram) - these are styled to look good - although how much of that is to do with the model being very slim and tanned I do not know, but I think they look nice.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 28/01/2022 20:47

I recently bought some gym shark slim fit joggers after someone recommended them as I'm short so can look quite dumpy in loose bottoms.

I wear them with a normal t shirt and pumps.

dorkfink · 28/01/2022 21:01

I just wear them like I would wear jeans.

Hoppinggreen · 28/01/2022 21:03

Have a look at Hush
You don’t have to buy from them but they have quite a lot of joggers nicely styled that might give you some ideas

I second these, I've got a few pairs and they can be sourced cheaper on e-bay for example. Lucy in the Sky Boutique does them a bit cheaper. They are so flattering and look great with heels and a blazer as well as trainer and sweats. Well worth it.
TheFormidableMrsC · 29/01/2022 00:03

Just to add that the ones referred to in my previous post are by Suzy D and are called "Ultimate Joggers"

Schhhteeevie · 29/01/2022 00:07

Slim fit joggers and tuck your tee or sweater in at the front. Easy!

tigerbear · 29/01/2022 00:44

How about joggers but in a different fabric? I have some in leather and also fake leather, which look cool with chunky white trainers.

Aren't slim fit joggers just the new socially acceptable term for leggings?
SarahWoodruff · 29/01/2022 01:29

Wear them with chunky boots instead of trainers (plus the ubiquitous padded coat).

Subbaxeo · 29/01/2022 05:35

I like Adidas joggers. I tried the slim fit ones but my thighs looked chunky-far more chunky than leggings. The normal ones with gathered bottoms look far better-I do like sports brands for clothes like this though rather than brands like Hush etc.

Not as form fitting as leggings.

AlwaysColdHands · 29/01/2022 07:00

Add decent trainers, slightly stylish jacket, cross body bag. Make sure the rest of you is slightly presentable I.e. hair and make up.

Thinkle · 29/01/2022 07:12

Agree with above. Another option is plain joggers with a slouchy fine knit jumper in the same colour and a French tuck.

LittleG69 · 29/01/2022 09:37

I’d second the Lucy Dodwell ones. I’ve got these and they look nice on (well I think so). Her sweatshirts are also great www.lucydodwell.com/collections/joggers/products/black-joggers

northumberlandavenue · 29/01/2022 10:14

Why not jeans?

HumunaHey · 29/01/2022 10:34

@careerchangee

Would you say they're true to size?

Yes, I'd say so. I'm a size 12 and they fit perfect perfectly.
Maireas · 29/01/2022 10:40

Joggers will always look very casual and undone. If you want a sharper look, you have to wear something with more structure. If you don't like jeans, try jeggings?

dorkfink · 29/01/2022 10:43

Why not jeans?

why not joggers?

I can't post any photos for some reason.

I tend to only do flat boots & trainers, sometimes a chunky flat sandal. I stick to a slimmer shape & wear with finer knits as another poster said.

I leave the oversized look or wearing cropped tops with them to the youths!

I love her sweats, wearing the Oui lightning bolt one right now with mid grey joggers! Christmas money treat ☺️

No they don't. Especially my faux leather ones with heels. They look fabulous with a blazer and a cami underneath
