Top lip hair removal

So I have really dark hair and have always had dark hair on my top lip. I've never removed it as I've always feared stubble/regrowth but it's really always bothered me.

I have a Braun IPL that I used on legs and underarms really successfully (I'm very pale and very dark hair so they work well) but haven't used on my lip yet as you still have to remove the hair first by waxing/shaving etc. to do the IPL and then manage the regrowth until the IPL programme is finished.

I'm considering getting a Flawless finish type hair remover to remove the hair, then use IPL over time, managing regrowth with the Flawless Finish thingy.

Anyone any experience or thoughts on this? Are those flawless finish devices as good as they sound (and any particular brands stand out?)?

Appreciate any advice.

I use a derma planer. It's quick, painless and gets all the hair no matter how short. You can get multi packs in TK Maxx. My tash seems resistant to IPL unfortunately Angry

I pluck with tweezers, it doesn't take long and it's painless, I can't remember if it was painless at first though but have been doing it so long.

I just use an eyebrow razor on mine every morning. No expense, no fuss, no chemicals.

Your IPL will work perfectly. Even better if you need to isolate for 10 days, you can do it then 😂... But yes, your idea seems like a sensible one and you'll probably find the IPL works really quickly as your colouring is so perfect

I've got a flawless finish and they are as good as they say, and like you, I use it inbetween laser treatments

I recently replaced my flawless finish (because the blade had become dull) and got this:

it's amazing! and the attachments are great

I use my epilator, it’s quick and easy.

Looks great. Is that essentially a Babyliss version of the same thing?

I epilate mine, quick, easy, no skin irritation and no stubble

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 29/01/2022 09:34

I use veet wax strips, have done so since I was 18 or so. They are cheap and once you get the technique down, easy to use. My lip stays smooth for around 2-3 weeks. Any stray very dark hairs, I just pluck out when I spot them.

IcyWinterWonderland · 29/01/2022 19:45

I usually wax my top lip and chin with sensitive skin facial wax strips.

emmylousings · 29/01/2022 21:05

I've always bleached mine because I was worried about stubble etc with other approaches (very dark hair), but now I'm having electrolysis on it and happy with the results. I know it's permanent as had it done elsewhere.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 29/01/2022 21:08

Japanese facial razor (packs for pennies on evil Amazon) & home IPL. Mine isn’t as dark but that’s how I manage it and it works well.

Eek I don't think I could epilate my top lip !

I use an epilator on my legs because I can just waft it round nd up/down until its dne without thinking too much
Armpits/top lip and bikini are done with Nads Sugaring

My top lip does need done but it's fine/fuzzy , I;m pale with dark-ish hair (going grey) .
