I want an undercut

I'm 44 but I don't care. Would I be best off going to a hairdressers or a barbers?

I had one a few years ago, from late 30s to early 40s. I must have tried every barbers in town and several hairdressers, and not once did I find anyone able to shave me a decent pattern on. I had a dragonfly that looked like a star wars x wing fighter, a butterfly that looked like a Union Jack, several dismal mandalas , several times I ditched the pictures and just asked them to do whatever they could manage with no joy. Most of the time I looked like a member of Britain first. Took fucking ages to grow out .

Undercut and I also went for some mad colours! I'm 36. My 13 year old was mortified, which was the exact reason I did it, to rebel!

I also did this back in 2020, the first time I went to the hairdressers after lockdown!

I’d have to start with an undercut to my face.

I had one for a few years because I have such thick curly hair . I liked it for when my hair is down but felt it made me feel weird when it's up ( I'm 48 but very short and young looking / so I'm told ) . I'd like one again if I can I could swop it out on up days !

I am really tempted by something like Mickey Sumner’s hair in snowpiercer series 3. Will try to insert pic. Would love to be brave and do it (I’m 46 but now that I’m a bit old don’t give so much of a rat’s ass so maybe…)

My daughter (a lesbian) has hair like Snow piercer woman - though it's very long and green with an undercut back and sides

I stopped colouring my hair in the first lockdown and am now very grey!

I'm 48 and have had my undercut for a couple of years now.

So much easier to style. Most of my grey is at the side so in a really short clipper I look like I have silver sparkles in my hair.

I did try one hairdresser who looked horrified at the thought and eventually decided she couldn't do my hair!

I'm 47 and have an undercut at the back of my past shoulder length hair. I've had it for years. I cut it myself every few weeks with clippers at home. It's not too difficult at all.

I had one for a few years, the back and one side. My hairdresser loved doing it, was a change from the shampoo and sets she usually did.

On the curly hair front, a friend has gorgeous dark brown curls and also has an undercut. It looks fantastic on her. My undercut inspiration is Dame Kelly Holmes, she has fantastic hair.

You totally can have an undercut if you have curly hair. Mine is very similar to this at the moment
