How’s your posture?

Mine is awful!

It’s never been great. It doesn’t come automatically to me to stand up straight and I have to consciously do it.

Over the last two years (lockdowns/too little exercise/too much time sitting around) it’s got even worse. Sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and I look really slouchy and my stomach sticks forward.

What is your posture like? Any tips for someone like me?

Pilates is brilliant for improving your posture. I've been doing it regularly for three years now, and am measuring a whole inch taller.

And my stomach is tauter and flatter.

Thanks for that. I like fast pace aerobic exercise although I’ve not done much of that in the last couple of years but I will definitely give Pilates a a go if it will give me results, especially a flatter stomach!

Mine was awful, and exacerbated by lockdown. I have sorted it out with a lot of yoga. My back and core are the strongest they have ever been.

I don’t do yoga either but it’s good to know it might help and it’s easy to do at home with online videos.

Thank you for reminding me to sit up straighter!

Lottie Murphy's Pilates videos on YouTube are very good.

My posture is dreadful also. Does anyone know if the Alexander Technique is worthwhile in improving things.

Mine's pretty good I've been doing yoga for 10 years and in the last 12 months started pvolve which has some moves similar to pilates.
