GHD or Cloud 9

I’m sure this has been asked before but ….

My old GHDs have finally given up after at least 12 years, and I need a replacement. I have spent hours looking at reviews but still can’t decide between GHDs and Cloud 9. Has anyone tried both? What would you recommend. I have thick frizzy hair that needs super straighteners Grin

I've used both. If you have the budget I'd go with the dyson straightener.

I have thick curly hair I keep straight.

Ooh dyson straightener!! Hadn’t even considered that. Thank you Smile

I got bought a pair of cloud nines about 6/7 years ago after I asked for some new straighteners as my GHDs were getting old they broke after about 3 weeks so I sent them back and got another pair of GHDs which are still going strong as are the original pair that were bought around 2006/7.

Cloud 9 all day long. I replaced old GHDs with them.

Sounds like I have similar hair to you! I replaced my old GHDs with some new ones and they were nowhere near the same - my hair was really big and frizzy. I've now got some wide plate Cloud 9s and they're WAY better. Not quite as good as the old GHDs but a big improvement on the new ones.

GHD changed the way the stylers work so the problem most people have with the new ones is that they aren’t using them correctly. They have heat sensors evenly on the plates so you are to go over the section slowly and just once maybe twice, rather than with other ones where you go over a section quickly and repeatedly. Not sure if that will help anyone who doesn’t get on with the new GHDs they have

@Falalalalaaa a lot of John Lewis have a dyson counter where you can try them out. For my type of hair (curly) it's just been the best one.

It's a really individual thing I think, really depends on your hair.

I ended up also buying the Dyson airwrap as I found the airwrap brush (blow dries it straight) means I'm not using the straightener as much for top ups. So overall the health of my hair improvement has been amazing.

It takes a while to get used to using it but honestly I don't regret the spend and love how healthy my hair is.
