Good bikinis

Looking for good quality bikini’s, don’t mind shelling out a bit as long as they do the job and make me feel confident.

I am small/medium build, curvy shape but small boobed. I’m pretty in shape but I’m a early thirties mum, I want something trendy but don’t want to be hanging out of it. Equally don’t want something mumsy or anything like a tankini or control swimsuit.

I prefer string bikinis as I find them more flattering as can adjust so they don’t squeeze or dig in. But all the string bikini’s I have ordered lately are absolutely skimpy and thin, not practical at all unless you’re a TOWIE/Love Island influencer.

Please send me your recommendations

Thanks

I’ve been looking and found nothing recently. There seems to be a choice between elaborately scaffolded bikinis, that I’m sure are exactly what you want if you’ve got big boobs, but are just too cumbersome and uncomfortable if you haven’t; frankly cheap-looking Love Island-type gear; and overly staid and sensible one-pieces. The best I found were by the surf brands- O’Neill, Billabong, that kind of thing. Maybe try those?

ScruffyLittleTerrior · 26/01/2022 13:03

Heidi Klein? There's a sale on right now

YellsiBabs · 26/01/2022 13:15

Hi @Boood that’s exactly the options I am finding right now

@ScruffyLittleTerrior I’ll check it out, thanks

Take a look at surfdome.

Lucia574 · 26/01/2022 13:50

Have you looked on the Coco Bay website? I like Seafolly bikinis usually.

Zazdar · 26/01/2022 16:01

I prefer string bikinis and my "go to" brands are Seafolly, Billabong, O'Neill and Rip Curl.

Thanks everyone, lots of really good suggestions

Pour moi has a good range of bikinis and swimwear.

backatschool · 27/01/2022 06:33

Definitely Heidi Klein. They fit beautifully

scooterbear · 27/01/2022 06:35

Cupshe...I've had some lovely swim stuff from there and it's not too spendy

StarlightLady · 27/01/2022 09:16

OP, how urgently do you need the bikini? At the moment, you will find a lot of “leftovers” about in shops and on line available in size 6 or size 22. Assuming you are neither of the sizes, if you are prepared to wait another month or maybe a little more, lots of new stock will come in.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/01/2022 11:07

& Other Stories, but I had a look and like a pp says, they haven't much stock right now.

Trolleedollee · 27/01/2022 11:17

I discovered good bikini's a couple of years ago. I never knew that there could be such a variation in fit in a few bits of string but they're such a good investment and the difference in fit from high street ones is amazing. My favourite is J by Jessika Allen. They're on the Outnet and are a really good price. Heidi Klein are lovely too as are Melissa Odabash

YellsiBabs · 27/01/2022 11:28

@StarlightLady I’ve got time. Going on hols in March. Definitely finding most places only have v small or v large sizes at the mo, which doesn’t work for me. Any ideas of when brands will restock? Thanks

Arket, &Other Stories and M&S are my bikini go to's. I had lots of unstructured bralette types last year and got them all from Nobody's Child.

PinkPlantCase · 27/01/2022 12:36

It’s not a string bikini but I like the ones Adidas do. They aren’t skimpy but they still look nice.

I have this one for going swimming with DC

Doubles as sports bra, they have others though that are less structured.

EdinaMonsoon · 27/01/2022 16:47

I would say that from your description we are the same shape and I really rate the Boden string bikinis. The fabrics are good quality and retain their shape - so you're not constantly hoiking it up or readjusting even when the fabric is wet. The cut is flattering and they always seem to pass my "swim test" - it doesn't flash bits of you as soon as you start swimming/chasing DCs in the water! There's a fair few Boden swimwear designs that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole! But their string bikinis are classic and really excellent.

BettieSpaghetti · 27/01/2022 17:16

I really like the bikinis from Bon Prix of all places. I have the crop top style with big Knickers, but they do lots of styles...
