Hair straightener or steam pod or something else? What do I need?

I have pretty curly but fine hair which I've been growing since the pandemic. I often dry it with a Revlon one-step brush because I find it looks better for longer if it's straightish instead of curly. I don't feel like it's working so well for me now that my hair is longer though so I've been pondering getting something new. I've also got GHd straighteners which are 20+ years old and just starting to fail! Is there some magic 'thing' that will replace both and give me lovely swishy smooth hair? Last time I went to the hairdresser she was trying to convince me a steam pod was the thing to have but I don't know if it is really any better than a normal straightener

I have curly but very thick hair that I wear straight. I dry it then go over the sections with the GHD Glide brush.
I absolutely love it! It’s revolutionised my hair styling routine. Lovely swishy hair, much easier and quicker than using straighteners.
After that I use a lot of the Aveda Dry Remedy oil to keep my hair soft and conditioned, but as I mentioned, I do have extremely thick hair.
