Help on what to wear

I'm going to a concert next week and want something new to wear. I haven't been out-out in what seems like forever. Usually I'm a jeans and nice top/blazer kind of person but I am wanting something different.

Im a size 12-14 and have boobs and a tum. I'd love some inspiration.

Lots of funky casual dresses out there to dress up or down, what's the budget?

I'm a jeans/leathers woman but have found a style of dress that works for when my tummy feels bloated etc to wear with leather jackets etc

Boomchikawowwow · 26/01/2022 15:56
I actually quite like that. Not my usual style at all but it's different. I'm just not sure I could carry it off.

Budget is £50/60 ish. I'm totally out of whack of what's in fashion since lockdown. I'm early forties so always worried about looking like mutton dressed up as lamb.

@boomchikawowwow I'm 50 and I will always dress down a dress with leather jacket or fur fillet and wear boots with them etc because I'm not a very feminine dresser.

I quite like the more subtle animal prints Hush do, I have a couple of the darker coloured snakeskin print ones from last winter.

What colours/prints work for you?

RosiePosieDozy · 26/01/2022 17:36

Leather trousers or leggings are really in at the minute. With a nice pair of boots. Would look lovely. You could go for some leather leggings, a little bit of a longer top (I don't like having my bum 'out' in leggings) and a nice coat.

Frilly kind of dresses are in at the minute. They don't suit me but they might suit you.

I usually wear black, navy or pink. I rarely wear prints but I'm beginning to think I need to get some clothes that are a bit funkier.

I like that too. It's definitely not something I'd ever even consider normally but that is nice 😊

A wrap dress was my first thought.

Or fit and flare/skater dress

I was thinking of some leather look leggings as opposed to jeans.

I'm really struggling nowadays where to shop that's not too young for me. I'd usually look at river island, H&M, next.

I've just seen this that I quite like

Only think is I'd struggle with the right footwear 🤔

I actually have this dress. I've put on weight and feel really self conscious in it as it's a bit tight around the stomach area. Would some hold me in knickers work?

Pic would help wouldn't it?

You mentioned that you have boobs and a tum so I'd say this is not for you.

The V neck options are great for figures with boobs.

The Next smock type dress that you liked, over a pair of jeggings www.marksandspencer.com/animal-print-high-waisted-jeggings/p/clp60474694?color=BLACK&prevPage=srp#intid=prodColourId-60474694
with boots or pumps or court shoes.

What sort of concert is it? You would probably wear something different to an indy or rock band than you would to go and see Tom Jones. Though jeans or leather leggings (which I love!) would work for either, the dressed up dress you showed (which I also love!) might not work for the first.

jeaux90 · 27/01/2022 13:01

I like the dress, hold in knickers work but god they are hot and make me sweaty.

Leather look leggings/skinny leather look jeans are good. Wear them a lot. They look really nice dressed up a bit with silky shirts I think and cool with T shirts etc too.

Loads of places online sell them, warehouse, next etc try and go for a style similar to the Jean style that works for you
