Looking for a smart 17” Laptop Backpack/Bag

Can anyone help me? I’m looking for a decent ladies backpack / bag for my obscenely large company laptop for when I return to the office in London. Knomo are all too small sadly but I would like that kind of look, something fairly classic and corporate but easy and hard wearing enough to lug around given I will be commuting and doing a fair bit of walking. Budget is under £200. Thank you in advance wise mumsnetters!

I've got a Samsonite and it's brilliant. Not sure what size they go up though.

DarlingCoffee · 25/01/2022 14:19

Thank you @delilahbucket they only have one that will fit a 17” and it’s on wheels! I’m not sure I’m old enough to own a wheel bag Smile

That's a shame. My only other advice is not to get a Staples branded one as I had one that I thought was fantastic and the zip failed after ten months.

Fossil do some excellent understated backpacks that fit a laptop

DarlingCoffee · 25/01/2022 19:43

Thank you @MomentToThink none seem to fit the 17” laptop that I have got unfortunately though I do like the style. I refuse to buy an ugly and boring laptop bag there must be something out there!!!

Try Nordace, I got the Sienna for my 17" laptop and there's still spare space

Trekkerbabe · 25/01/2022 20:13

John lewis do some nice reasonably priced bags. My brother got one for Xmas.

RollaCola84 · 25/01/2022 20:16

I like my Samsonsite one too, I thought they did do a 17" one though mine is for a 15". I got it from John Lewis

RollaCola84 · 25/01/2022 20:18

I also have a wheeled Samsonite which was a godsend when I'd injured my shoulder. I was in my late 20s when I used that Grin

MsAnnFrope · 25/01/2022 20:19

If you are willing for it be more backpack than corporate smart I have an ogio ladies laptop backpack which fits a laptop and the straps are designed to be comfortable for women.

I have a Wenger ladies laptop backpack which is quite sleek and smart and very comfortable. I've had it years now and it looks new. I wouldn't recommend getting a shoulder bag, I had one previously and it injured my shoulder.

DarlingCoffee · 26/01/2022 07:10

Thank you everyone for your comments, the trouble is most of these brands and even John Lewis do not cater for 17” laptops and the ones that do are so ugly! I am loathe to fork out for a bag I hate the look of, clearly a gap in the market - so the search continues…if anyone out there has found a stylish laptop bag that fits a 17” laptop please let me know!!

This Victorinox one is for a 17" laptop, but it's £360!

www.victorinox.com/uk/en/Products/Travel-Gear/Backpacks-Messengers/Altmont-Professional-Wheeled-Laptop-Backpack/p/606634

This is within budget at £190 but it's wheeled.

MsAnnFrope · 26/01/2022 09:11

Do you have any pics of a non laptop bag you like? Stylish can be so subjective, I mean can a backpack ever be stylish (I think yes but others may not!)
Loving the challenge!

DarlingCoffee · 26/01/2022 12:07

Thanks @MsAnnFrope I agree, I think a backpack can be stylish - okay not as stylish as a handbag but then I want to look after my back. So this is the goal - it’s Knomo but won’t fit my laptop. Thanks to everyone who has helped thus far I am reading and checking out all your links

This one would work depending on how you feel about Barcelona…

I have an Osprey bag for all my work gear - might be worth a look to see if one of these is large enough?

How about something like this? (Disclaimer, I've never ordered from this company so can't comment on service, delivery etc).

Or this (but there's only 1 left according to the website)

DarlingCoffee · 26/01/2022 18:24

Haha thanks @MsAnnFrope I mean I do like Barcelona…@SaffyWall I love those bags but they are all too small sadly. @NeedWineNow thanks yes am looking at this site too, have a potential Ted Baker bag in my sights from there if I don’t find something better. I just can’t believe nobody makes an attractive bag for large laptops.

MsAnnFrope · 26/01/2022 18:30

So many go up to 16” but not 17. Definitely a gap in the market. DH has a leather fossil one for his but they don’t make that style anymore.

DarlingCoffee · 26/01/2022 18:35

@No3No2No1 lovely but only fits a 15” laptop though. I am beginning to wonder if this holy grail bag exists!
