I have been invited to a friend's very smart party for her significant birthday. I have a ted baker dress that I love and it really suits me but it is quite old and I am just not sure if it is a bit out dated....

I would also need new shoes, what would work best with this....

See I would have worn (and did) something like this in the 80s, the one from Zara I’d have probably worn in the 90s. But the fact that someone else thinks it’s mid 2000s shows that actually some outfits are timeless. It’s a lovely dress and if you can get away with it, go for it. You will look great.

*precious time

21 year old DD would wear that.

I think it's timeless you will look lovely!

@pinkpillower

Meanwhile men will turn up wearing the same outfit for the last 100 years 😂

I don't think it's dated and if it makes you feel good then that's what matters!! Why spend money on something "modern" to then potentially not feel as good.

Cam2020 · 25/01/2022 09:59

I think it's classic. Wearing something that suits you and you feel good in is much more important then something that's of the moment, IMO (unless it was a trend that was out there to begin with).

This dress is stunning. It's not dated as some have said....it's classy!
Beautiful long sparkly earrings, bracelet and high heeled court shoes.....

TickleMyFanny · 25/01/2022 10:10

If you look and feel great in something it never dated imo

I like it and heartily approve of rewearing a dress. The only problem I find with the exposed zip is that they catch things, hair, skin, jewellery, and over time if they're a thick heavy zip, the fabric either side starts to wrinkle up. I have two party dresses, reworn loads of times and am not fashionable. But I still vote yes.

I absolutely love it! Wish I had the figure for it. I’d wear a chunky cuff and some bright shoes with it
