Help a curvy mum with some outfit ideas

I'm a size 12 curvy pear shape. In two weeks time I am going on a reunion type weekend with friends from University but no idea what to wear for the dinner and drinks night out.
Everyone else in the group is super slim, child free and fashionable! I just feel like the frumpy mum! It's not a super fancy occasion I think the others will be wearing "jeans and a nice top"! Inspiration and ideas welcome Grin

@Bertiebiscuit

I would say a size 12 is slim, you can wear anything - I'm surprised to see you describing yourself as "curvy" tbh, wear whatever you fancy I'd say
Curvy doesn't mean overweight or fat, it means a big difference between waist and hip or waist and bust, just curving in and out. It's not the easiest shape to dress in some styles. Mom jeans being an example imo.

Jumpsuit or a co ord set-show off that tiny pear waist.
Get your lashes lifted -it’ll make you feel done without too much effort.

Body suit and skinny jeans, with nice ankle boots will be nice. Get a biker jacket. Never uncool

I have the same figure as you’re describing and I live in wrap dresses. I’ve bought these three this month and wear them with a black leather jacket, tights and boots.

I seem to be having a bit of a animal print moment 🙈

I’m a pear, with large Lipoedema thighs. Zara’s wide leg or paper bag style jeans/trousers are a fantastic fit.

How about leather (look) leggings? Very popular in my city still, and can dress up or down and with a top length you feel comfortable with. I have some very high waist ones I wear with a short top and blazer if I want extra coverage. They don't add bulk and hold you in like a waist to ankle corset, but very comfy.
I'm not sure I would be confident about leggings my thighs are quite big!

Thanks, I am certainly not slim! I have very wide hips and thighs and a big bum that I can sometimes fit into a size 12 pair of jeans at a squeeze! I will wear what I like but just looking for some inspiration as it's been a few years since I've dressed up and gone out anywhere for an evening with the girls.

@Debbacat6

Blouse is horrible Looks like a mini kaftan top for the beach And quite the wrong season for it anyway Get lovely sleeveless cashmere top in a light colour and then add a round necked contrast colour cashmere hoodie or cardi. I beg you do not wear mom jeans esp as you already feel frumpy. Get mini flares or bootlegs in a dark wash and wear with pointy toed Chelsea boots or loafers.
Thanks! Will look at your Jean suggestions.

Thanks I may revisit my existing wardrobe to look at jumpsuits!

LOVE the first dress I think this may be super flattering. Not a jeans and top combo but possibly a more flattering option for me and to skim over my hips.

I echo leather look trousers. Sosander are a great fit for curvy pear shapes and they come in different colours with a high waist to keep the tummy in. I’m not so keen on their tops. A pair of biker boots or ankle boots with a heel will make you feel non-mumsy.

I like this look, I think Roman have really upped their game.

I was in M&S yesterday and couldn't find that blouse. Apparently this style is a nod to the 80s so not everyones cup of tea.

I tried these on and they were flattering - couldn't decide between short or regular (long wss ridiculous) so having a think:

I’m a curvy 12 and If it was me I’d go for something like a pleather legging or coated skinny jeans like the ones below-
www.riverisland.com/p/black-molly-coated-mid-rise-skinny-jeans-675507?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0Y6wrvzr9QIVkrLVCh0WAAt8EAQYASABEgKwUfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
(Super comfy and lots of stretch)
Teamed with either a black bodysuit with a silk shirt over (half unbuttoned and tucked in, really nice ones in H&M) with a hoop belt and strappy low heels, gold layered necklaces and hoops, this sort of style (but with the coated jeans)-
www.hollandcooper.com/products/silk-vneck-blouse-emerald?variant=32605074194529&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIso2d1_3r9QIVi8x3Ch00gwNpEAkYAyABEgLu-vD_BwE

OR ..
Coated jeans / real slim leg mom jeans (I find H&M best ones for a slim leg- very flattering)
With a silk cowl bodysuit, a blazer and some mule flats, one simple gold necklace and hoops! This sort of thing- (see attached pic)
Or ofcourse if you wanted to go more casual you could switch the silk cowl bodysuit for just a plain black or white T-shirt and half tuck that in! (As pictured)
Hope these all help! Let us know what you end up wearing would love to see it!!
X
