Resoling Converses

And another question from me: DS would like to have his limited-edition Converse resoled. My local Timpsons basically laughed at me. I realise it could be as much as a new pair, but they're of sentimental value so, within reason, I probably would be daft enough to pay what might seem a silly amount for a resole. Any ideas?

I don't think anyone does that type of sole. Contact converse perhaps?

From googling I understand Converse don't. It doesn't need to be an exact match though. i'm sure in the old days people patched things up with old bicycle tyres. If only I were that practical myself! They don't even need a whole new sole, just a bit of a patch-up. People just don't really do that anymore, hence why the Timpsons guy just laughed.

Try an independent cobbler. They may be able to stick on a sole without removing the old sole

Shoe designer here - because of how converse are made you physically can’t resole them without destroying the shoe. It’s not a cost thing unfortunately.

The side of the outsole is a rubber tape that is manually wrapped and glued around the bottom of the sole and the fabric upper the whole shoe is then baked in a huge industrial oven to bond everything together.

As a rule you can’t re-sole sports shoes.

Boots / heels / formal - no prob
