Cos sizing?

I’ve never ordered from cos before and there’s a dress I really like the look of, however it’s been out of stock in both XS and S for a while. Occasionally one seems to come back in stock (then go again) but I’m not sure which size to try and order when it does. I’m not on the mainland so I’m going to need to use a third party to ship it meaning returning wouldn’t be simple.

According to their size guide an XS is size 6-8 and an S size 10-12. I’m usually an 8 on top, 10 on the bottom or usually an 8 in a dress. Never a 6 though. And a 12 would be too big.

Can anyone who shops at Cos regularly advise which size they think I should try and get hold of if it comes back in stock? (Dress is fitted at the waist, if it was one of the looser styles I’d be more confident going for the XS).

I think their sizing is quite generous. I am a size 8-10 and have a couple of dresses in a small, but could easily have sized down to XS. I also exchanged a pair of S joggers for an XS, as the S were huge around my waist!

I’d size down. I’m a 12-14 and usually wear a M, but have some of their stuff in S.

I'm an apple and find fitted Cos items tight on my waist but large elsewhere. So if it's fitted or not elastic or ribbed, I'd go on the waist measurement.

Sizing is definitely on the large size.

I find their sizing generous, except in trousers, which I find very ungenerous on the waist. Anything oversize, like their oversize shirts, trench coats or dresses, you need to size down a lot ime.

Thanks everyone that’s really helpful. It was back in stock in the XS so I went for it based on what you have all said. Fingers crossed that it fits as organising the shipping was a palaver!

Xs will be fine. I’m a 12 (definitely not a 10 anymore) and I buy a S.
