Wide leg jeans

I've been refreshing my jeans as I was down to one semi satisfactory pair that was rapidly dying and have been trying to buy ones that flatter me and style myself better.

I'm 5.6 and pear shape and I have got boyfriend jeans and mom jeans.

I want to get some wide leg jeans, as wide trousers are supposed to be flattering for a pear shape.

Looking for recommendations - my go to has been Marks and Spencer and I saw positive things about Emma Willis wide leg jeans on another thread.

I'd like a long and a cropped pair, maybe one mid wash and one darker.

Anyone have or seen any they recommend?

I can tell you now, that as a fellow pear and also 5.6, wide leg trousers of any description are NOT flattering on us.

They make us look shorter than we are and dumpy...and wide.

They work on tall, willowy figures.

Straight legged jeans work on us well though. As do bootcut and mom.

Try Levi ribcage straight ankle

I have some FatFace wide leg cords and they do wide leg jeans in a similar style which had good reviews, I like wide legs but I am 5'10", size 14 so they look better on me than tighter jeans

The op wants to try something different and she asked for recommendations, not opinions, why piss on her chips like that?
I'm sure she's perfectly capable of looking in the mirror or taking a photo and deciding for herself whether or not she likes them.

Mine are from the Uniqlo U range a few years ago. They've got some again in the current preview.

If you're worried about your height - and I'm shorter than you - then I find a higher waist wide leg gives the illusion of longer legs.

I'm 5'7" and I love wide leg jeans. High waisted style with a nice fitted top does not make me look dumpy. They can balance out a big bust visually. I like flares too Grin

Oh I like Uniqlo, Disturbia and Monki.

Hmm it is true that I have never owned any. Maybe I need to be taller. I have had wide leg linen trousers though and they did work. Going to explore further but not get hopes up.

It's not the high waist that makes one look dumpy but the wide leg. If you're not tall and willowy, it just makes you look wide...flares are good on someone of 5.6 or 7 though. But that wide, broad silhouette given by a wide leg is just not flattering. I will say though that 5.7 is quite tall and if you're skinny, maybe they work on you.

I have www.hush-uk.com/rowan-flared-jeans-dark-authentic/001765-3008.html from Hush and love them.

I’ve got the Adalae wide leg jeans from New Look and find them flattering. I’m 5’8 and a 10 but still pear shaped. I wear them with a tight tucked in top to avoid looking big everywhere.

Twirlyz22 · 20/01/2022 17:34

I am the same height as you and have these, not wide leg but they are lovley www.stories.com/en_gbp/clothing/jeans/straight/product.favourite-cut-cropped-blue.0898522011.html

Wide leg absalouty does work for pear shape, it's about balance. Mid or high waist otherwise your legs will look short and stumpy. And balance wth the right style top. 😊

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/01/2022 17:40

I’m 5ft 6 and a hippy size 10 - love wide legs! I need to tuck my top in to emphasise my waist, but I think they are very flattering. Definitely not dumpy-making.

I don’t have jeans, but have cords and wool trousers, mainly from Cos. My only reservation with jeans is that the fabric tends to be stiffer which might be what a pp means, so I would look for soft denim.

Ozanj · 20/01/2022 17:50

I think it depends on how pear shaped you are and whether you have child bearing hips (and a short waist) or a longer waist. I am the former and anything high waisted looks frumpy on me even though I’m tall. I find high waist straight leg, mid / low rise for looser cuts work better on my figure. Low rise actually looks perfect but not as many of those about at the moment.

I only wear wide leg jeans, H&m and asos have lots of styles
