Jeans wear through very quickly

As I spend £40 on another pair of jeans maybe 2-3 months after my last, I've been thinking if it's just me that goes through jeans really quickly where they get thin and eventually wear through at the top of the thighs?

These are typically M&S standard of jeans which i wouldn't have thought were the lowest quality. I debate whether to buy more expensive ones but then am I destined to always wear through jeans because of my, erm, generous thighs?

Anyone else / any tips other than a diet ?

The stretchier and softer the jeans the faster they wear through.

Men's Levi's are much sturdier than most women's jeans as they have much less stretch in them, but obviously that affects the comfort and fit.

I patch mine (and DHs) at home. I save old pairs that are beyond repair to make patches and when they start getting threadbare but before they get holey I sew a patch on the inside. Sometimes I have to put a second bigger patch in a year later but it keeps them wearable. I trim off any frayed bits but let the outer denim go to holes.

As long as you don't sit like a manspreader no one will notice, and even if they do you are decent and covered with no drafts!

I find the more expensive jeans are, the quicker they wear through.

I'm currently wearing these www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-organic-cotton-rich-straight-leg-jeans/p4945097 and I've been impressed by how hard-wearing they are without being stiff.

@Sew3stitch

Really helpful, thank you. I am in my 30s now but remember similar issues when I was a teen. Given I've always bought high Street jeans it could be down to the stretch and (lack of) quality. Sadly i think my big thighs might be the main problem but will give Levi or similar a go and see if I can get a bit longer out of them. My husband has Levis years old but he does have skinny legs Grin
My river island and miss selfrifge jeans are at least 5 years old maybe more....still look good

You can get vintage 501s on eBay for a fraction of the price of new. Quality is generally better but size up as they're smaller than current Levi's.

I've only once had a pair of jeans actually wear through and that was with a pair I had 4 years which I probably wore 4 times a week. Apart from that none have. Saggy knees mind. Modern 100% Levi's are good quality. Don't buy elastane. If you buy modern from eBay they are a snip. Vintage you need to go up at least 2 inches in waist size imo
