Is black OK for an evening do?

We've got a wedding evening do to go to in April. I've got a lovely, draped silky dress from All saints that I'd really like to wear but it's black. Is that a bit drab for a wedding?

I think for an evening event black looks very sophisticated and I think it's fine for all evening events.
I'd reconsider if it was the ceremony and day (although I'm probably just being a bit old fashioned) but for the evening it will be fine.

You could wear bright accessories and a brightly coloured jacket or coat for the ceremony?

It's ok though I would suggest a coloured jacket/wrap and accessories, some people mind more than others
