Dungarees and jumpsuits like these?

I have both of these and love them. Really flattering and suit my hourglass shape and height ( 4’11).

I’d like some more but both firms mainly do brightly patterned and brightly coloured versions and I’m wanting dark, plain colours - navy, indigo denim, green. Lucy& yak do plain colours but mostly in cord which with it getting on for spring, I don’t want. Any ideas who does similar styles - I’ve looked at fatface, Boden, Hush, Whistles, white stuff and can’t find anything that I think will suit my shape and (lack of) height as much. I’m short waisted too just to add to the challenge. Any ideas anyone?

I don't have any ideas but I have fallen in love with that jumpsuit in the first pic!

KirstenBlest · 17/01/2022 13:54

I have a Carmen boilersuit from Lucy&Yak. It's cotton twill and I love it

KirstenBlest · 17/01/2022 14:00

This one but it's sold out unless they make some more

Try Urban Outfitters, Finisterre, Toast, FatFace, SeaSalt, La Redoute, Superdry etc

Do you like jersey ones? Thunder Egg has lots of their own brand ones. www.thunderegg.co.uk/product-category/clothing/pinafores-dungarees/

Both Lucy & Yak and Run & Fly will probably bring out more cotton twill styles for spring and summer too, they usually do.

TheNinjaWife · 17/01/2022 15:35

H & M usually have dungarees. Also look at supermarket fashion. I’ve seen black ones in sainsburys.

irregularegular · 17/01/2022 15:38

I'm wearing Hush black cord dungarees today! I just bought them n the sale and love them. I think they are supposed to be slightly cropped. I am 5 ft 4 and they are slightly on the short side. May still be too long for 4 ft 11 - though I'm sure you could shorten.

Kirsten I was looking at the Carmen jumpsuit. Do you reckon it would suit/fit me if I’m short, short-waisted and hourglass? There are a couple of size S ones on eBay. The Frankie one I have is a small but it’s quite oversized.

Nuca it is my favourite thing in my wardrobe. It’s so flattering and comfy. It’s like wearing PJs but also smart.

Nordica I’ve nothing against the idea of jersey but wondered if they would be as forgiving over any flabby areas. I’ll definitely take a look at Thunder Egg. I’ve not heard of them. I hope L&Y and R&F will bring out some plain (ideally dark coloured) cotton ones for spring. I’ll check out the other brands mentioned. Thanks everyone,.

Run&Fly have got plain dark green stretch cord ones coming out this week :) And you could always buy 2 pairs and dylon one of them navy!

LalaMelyn · 17/01/2022 15:42

Their cord is really lightweight and soft so not like thick cord at all, I wear mine in spring and summer.

KirstenBlest · 17/01/2022 15:51

@Sameformeplease, I'm shortish (taller than petite) and not particulaly hourglass. It's only elasticated at the back but it has some shape

You could wear a belt if you wanted more waist definition.

Just looked on ebay and they're like the one I have otherwise I might be tempted Grin

Showmetheworld · 17/01/2022 16:02

Hi, I’ve seen some lovely ones on both Lowie and LF Markey (but they are £££) and Finisterre have a similar jumpsuit that they seem to have done in a range of muted colours over the last couple of seasons.

PaleGreenGhost · 17/01/2022 16:58

My fatface dungarees from several years ago are similar to the run and fly. I'm hourglass but tall, and ultimately, although the straps went long enough, the bib wasn't big enough for my top half. They'd have looked brilliant on a shorter hourglass. I don't know if their current dungarees are the same style but may be worth trying on.

Sameformeplease · 17/01/2022 18:20

PaleGreenGhost. Thanks. I’ll take another look at the fatface ones.

Kirsten. What size Carmen do you have? I’m 32FF and have chunky thighs answer a small waist and generally wear a 12 . The Frankie jumpsuit from L&Y is S but is very roomy. Any idea what size Carmen I might need?

InaccurateDream · 17/01/2022 18:25

I think the carmens are supposed to be a bit smaller than the frankie/eddies

Sameformeplease · 17/01/2022 18:50

InaccurateDream Thanks that’s very helpful. It does look a straighter shape so I did wonder if a S would be a problem and I think it might well be too tight over the hips and thighs.

KirstenBlest · 17/01/2022 19:30

@Sameformeplease, I have the Carmen in small. I'm an 8 in jeans, 10 or sometimes 12 in tops. Probably 32C/32D. I'm normally a small in dungarees e,g Gap, if that helps.

They might be too long all over though. My boilersuit is ok all over but I'm nearly 5" taller than you, and don't fit petite clothing

Petite sizing seems silly - cut for 5'3" or 5'2" when the average height of a woman in the UK is 5'3"

Sameformeplease · 17/01/2022 19:35

Kirsten A Small will definitely be too small for me going by your sizing.

Petite sizing doesn’t seem overly helpful to me either. Lots of women I know are around 5’3 and don’t need petite. For women under 5’3 lots of petite stuff is way too long in the leg especially. I find petite sleeve lengths too long too.

OP posts:
KirstenBlest · 17/01/2022 19:49

@Sameformeplease, I'd look for a petite one.

I'd suggest getting a dressmaker to make you one but they take a lot of fabric, and you'd need a pattern, and interface, elastic and buttons so £££. You could get a dressmaker to alter one though.
