What size coat should I buy in Zara?

I am normally a UK size 16 or 18 (if the shop is small fitting). What size coat should I buy in Zara, XL or XXL? I have heard Zara can be small fitting.

Depending on the cut, XXL I'm a 12 and find I'm an L or sometimes XL in anything fitted from Zara

sunshinesupermum · 16/01/2022 17:04

XXL. Zara tailoring is on the small side unless it is an oversize design.

JDaytona · 16/01/2022 17:07

I'm a size 12-14 and often have to get XL in Zara clothes.

Apart from their enormous tent dresses.

With Zara I'd always try to actually go to a shop to try things on. Their sizing is ridiculous.

6464zz · 16/01/2022 17:08

I'm a 12/14 and wear a large in Zara. I'm 5 foot 4 if that also helps.

bengalcat · 16/01/2022 17:12

I’m a 12 and need to buy L / XL in Zara depending on the design .
I’d go to the shop in person if you can .

GiltEdges · 16/01/2022 17:21

I'm an 8-10 in most shops and tend to buy a M in Zara, so I'd have said XXL.

Gladioli23 · 16/01/2022 17:23

I used to have to buy an XL in Zara to fit my bust in when I was a size 10 ish...

I wouldn't buy without trying it on (or free delivery and returns)

Shopgirl1 · 16/01/2022 17:34

I think you should try on - their sizing can be very small. I’m a 10 and need an M there.

Cotswoldmama · 16/01/2022 17:36

Order a few sizes. I feel there sizes are really big!

Socialcarenope · 16/01/2022 17:54

I find Zara to be like H&M when it comes to sizing - sometimes a size 8 will drown me, others I'll be busting out of a 16.

FayCarew · 16/01/2022 18:18

Same as @Cotswoldmama and @Socialcarenope.

IcyWinterWonderland · 16/01/2022 21:51

The coat I am looking at is supposed to be an 'oversized' style of coat.

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 17/01/2022 10:26

If its oversized I'd go for a 16/XL if you're between a 16 and a 18.

Bushkin · 17/01/2022 21:04

XXL in Zara is generally about a 16

Forrandomposts · 18/01/2022 08:53

You might won't fit into Zara OP, sorry. I'm a 14-16 and can't wear their jackets/coats or trousers. Tops I can usually get away with an XXL depending on the cut. Their sizing sucks.

BusterGonad · 18/01/2022 11:00

I'm a 14 to 16 and I take an XL. Only once have I not fitted my boobs into an XL and it was a cotton dress, a, slim fit so not forgiving on the boobs at all. I'm a FF to G cup.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 18/01/2022 11:02

They come up small so go for the biggest size

Geamhradh · 18/01/2022 21:31

I'm a 14-16 top and my Zara coat is an L and fits me perfectly if that's any help.
That said, I need an XL or XXL in a shirt.
Their sizing is utterly insane.

ChocolateRiver · 18/01/2022 21:49

I’m a size 16 with biggish boobs and have never managed to find anything that fits nicely in Zara. I’ve given up trying now. It would probably be better to see if you find it in a shop to try on. Zara do ridiculous sizing.

BusterGonad · 19/01/2022 06:20

Not so much the sizibg but the shape and fit is really weird in Zara, usually the shoulders are weird, or the waist is too high.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/01/2022 06:29

This. But I stopped going in when - as a pretty standard size 14 - I asked a sales girl to explain their sizing, and she stepped back, looked me up and down, sighed, and said “we don’t make clothes for people as big as you”. First and last time I ever went to Zara.
QuentininQuarantino · 19/01/2022 06:39

It depends on the coat but probably XXL

I was a 12-14 and needed L, now I’m a 10 and need M (size 10 in their jeans).

(I live in Spain though where Zara is from and am definitely bigger than most Spanish women here so if 10 = S like it seems to in the UK there’d be nothing for loads of the home market!) So I’d go up one size from your UK size.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 19/01/2022 06:47

Zara sizes are shitty, honestly I'll be surprised if the coat anywhere near fits you.

NeedWineNow · 19/01/2022 08:55

I'm 5.5 and a size 14. DH bought me a coat from Zara for Xmas in L (I had already tried it on to be fair).

I agree though, it depends on the cut in there. For instance the oversized shirt from Zara I've got on today is a Medium and in other things I've had to have an XL.
