Best boots for slippy pavements

Do I need hiking boots? snow boots? want them to look nice too.

Any recommendations?

You need lugs on the sole, I wore my Pavers hiking style boots on Thursday and didn't slip on thefrost, or my D'lites yesterday.

Sorel Joan of arc are good and look pretty stylish I think.

Another vote for Sorel Joan of Arc. Love mine. I used to be like Bambi on ice at the merest hint of a frost, but in these I can walk confidently along even in that awful have melted snow/frozen slush stuff. Keep my feet toasty too, even when I visited Finland in winter.
