For an EL DW light fans looking for a replacement

I was gutted to find out that EL double wear light was being discontinued. It has been my go to foundation for a decade. I have combo skin with predisposition to blocked pores and spots- prob peri menopause related. Anyway I bought the new EL Dw Light replacement- it’s called sheer. It didn’t work for me- made me break out immediately and was so sheer it felt like zero coverage, more a tinted moisturiser type thing. Returned it to boots and the sales assistant persuaded me to try Mac studio fix and 5 days on I am super impressed! It’s Medium coverage, I’ve had no new outbreaks and it lasts all day.
Hope this helps anyone else who is missing Estée Lauder double wear light!

Me! I even went to Boots but it wasn’t like I remembered and I couldn’t get samples other than for some industrial Clinique gloop. I fancy the Mac I might just order online. Currently using double wear mixed with primer so I don’t look embalmed. It does but not the same. DWL was perfect so fingers crossed for Mac

Revlon colourstay is a dupe for ELDW

@Quantity5 the Mac lady colour matched for me. It’s perfect and I’m so impressed with it. I actually prefer it now to DWLight! The colour she gave me seems to work better too.

I will get there as soon as I can. Just looked at what shade I might need and an online colour match from EL said nw20, the camera said nw13 and I guess be something else so def need someone to match me!

You must be similar to me! I got NW13 and used to use desert beige x

Good to know! I’m using Mac face and body at the moment but it’s very sheer, probably good for the summer. I’m desert beige too.

Does the face and body last out of interest? Sheer normal just vanishes on me - am oily.

I’m oily too but find it lasts better than I expected. I use a primer and powder on top. Also mixing it with a couple of drops of a lighter cheap foundation from Revolution as I’m a bit pale atm, which I think is giving it more coverage and helping it last.

Thanks for that-don’t suppose you know if it’s definitely as pinky as fresco so you. I am so Bluetooth pink that neutrals look quite yellow on me. When I looked at the Mac web site their ‘cool’ models made me look purple in comparison. I might just buy online - I hate going into shops!

It's a good match for me. You could try buying a sample on ebay,I do that a lot.

Must add that I binned it, I hated the stuff,showed up all my pores and didn't last well. Have you tried Revlon Colourstay in Buff? Not as full coverage as DW but very good all the same. Or mixing the original DW with a bit of moisturiser?

That’s a shame - I have big pieces. What a pain. I haven’t tried the Revlon but will give it a shot. Didn’t know about the eBay samples - thanks!

Am mixing primer and dw st the mo … it’s ok but I get a bit greasier later on.

Nars sheer glow is a great alternative - it’s really good!

I like Armani Luminous silk. It doesn't wear quite as well as the DW light but it still looks good and fresh through a work day.

I miss it too. Tried their hydra one but it doesn't last. Just trying a ysl foundation currently. It lasts quiet well and I like the coverage but need to sort the colour out. The one I'm using is a bit yellow on me.

Well more on my foundation hunt. Mac didn’t work for me - colour wasn’t quite right and it made my skin look worse. Have ended up with Dior forever in Matt - the glow is a bit too gooey for someone as oily as me though is very nice. It sits nicely snd builds nicely. I am somewhere between the 1CR and 2CR so can see I will end up with one of each…
