Intimate waxing and gloves

My last Hollywood wax the therapist (new to the salon) didn't wear gloves. She rubbed some oil on her hands at the beginning and as I just usually look up at the ceiling as much as I can during the process I didn't actually spot she hadn't put any gloves on until almost all the way through the treatment.

I've had a few waxes before this but all the other therapists always wore gloves, so I'm wondering if that was normal or not and if I should say something to the salon manager.

It's really putting me off going back for my next one.

The gloves are to protect her though, not you. If you are worried her hands are dirty then her gloves could easily be dirty too. They aren’t sterile and individually packaged.
However, you could just ask her to wear gloves at the beginning of your appointment.

I've had loads of bikini waxes over the years and can only remember a 1-2 therapists wearing gloves.

Gloves can get stuck on skin when it’s sticky. Hands don’t get stuck on skin when it’s sticky.

Hands can be washed. Gloves aren’t sterile.

Anything sticky is easier without gloves. I really resent the performative aspect of gloves when I can clean my hands better than the surface of a non sterile glove from a box that’s opened for a few days at least.
