Botox. What can go wrong?

Has anyone had botox which has gone wrong?
What can go wrong?
Have read all the treads where people rave about it but just wondered if anyone has experienced anything negative with it?

Also..maybe a stupid question but do they do a patch test first?!

Your aesthetician should talk you through risks at your consultation. Apparently people get a headache or flu like reaction.

I’ve had a couple of times where it hasn’t worked quite as intended. One time I got “Spock brow”, which is where an eyebrow is pulled up by some muscles over compensating for others being paralysed. Very subtle, and easily sorted by a return visit to level things out. Another time I had a bubble/bulge in my chin, as the muscle was paralysed - this settled down before I even got a chance to return to my aesthetician.

No patch test - it’s an injection, it doesn’t go on your skin. Some providers will use an alcohol wipe to remove make up in that area, others don’t - the needle is tiny and superficial, so no real risk of infection.

I was really anxious before I started too - now I’m very relaxed and ask him to try different tweaks, confident that if I don’t like it then it will wear off in a few months.

I got a bad headache for about 24hrs when it fully kicked in about a week or maybe 10 days after the injections. The sensation was a bit like my neck muscles had become aware that my forehead was off duty and were trying to do the job my forehead usually does, which apparently is to keep my face from slipping down my skull.

I only had 11s done, and the smallest dose, and I was glad I hadn't gone for anything more.

It does appear to have made a difference, 11s are much softer about four months after injections even though it seems like the actual effect of the botox has fully worn off.
