Where do you keep makeup ?

I usually do my makeup standing up at ensuite mirror and have perpex storage which never looks tidy, gets wet when DH splashes it shaving etc.
Do you have a dressing table ? Any ingenuitious storage ideas ?

I have a small beaureau next to my big mirror and the drawers are full of makeup plus if I want to sit down there's a desk that drops down. Either that or a narrow chest of drawers or something like a blanket box?

In the bathroom cabinet.

BusterGonad · 14/01/2022 13:14

You shouldn't keep your make up in the bathroom, the humidity makes it go off.

And is perfect for bacteria growth.

Chest of drawers in unheated bedroom.

What's in use is on dressing table or in my bag

Inthesameboatatmo · 14/01/2022 14:32

I just keep mine in a large make up bag . I've probably got a fairly small makeup collection compared to some though.

I have a dressing table by my bedroom window - all makeup is stored in the top drawer. I have some plastic drawer inserts to keep it all organised.

I’m WFH and I’ve started doing my makeup and hair at my desk in my home office. I’ve just bought myself a pink metal drawer filing cabinet that fits under my desk but will actually be full of my extensive makeup and skincare collection. I got a couple of the beauty advent calendars and a couple beauty boxes recently so have loads of stuff that need organised. So looking forward to its arrival Grin x

I've got a drawer in my dressing table full of all the bits and pieces I only drag out occasionally like green sparkly eyeshadow or large palettes of powders and bulky items. Also all the useless brushes that I don't ever use.

The day to day stuff on rotation is in a make up bag in the kitchen as that's where I stand to put it on in the morning - it gets the best light and even when it's 5am and pitch black outside I'm so in the habit of doing it that way that I still face the back door to put it on!

Smaller make up bag in handbag has lipstick, concealer, powder, blusher, lip balm and mirror in case I have to do any on the spot repairs during the day.

In a dressing table but I still end up wandering into the dressing room or en suite as I do it. After years of doing my makeup standing up its a hard habit to break.

LoannaJumley · 16/01/2022 09:07

Mine's kept in the top drawer of my dressing table, in front of the bedroom window that's always open slightly.

KiloWhat · 16/01/2022 09:35

I got some make up drawers from a company called 10FT they aren't see through so it all looks neat.

beguilingeyes · 16/01/2022 10:43

I would love a dressing table. Mine lives on top of a chest of drawers with a mirror.

TokyoSushi · 16/01/2022 10:49

I have the waist height single IkeaTrofast storage in the bottom of some fitted wardrobes, I just take the tray out and to the mirror and then back when I'm done - works really well!

DedalusBloom · 16/01/2022 11:35

I have this dressing table from The Futon company - I wanted something that was slim fitting as we don't have a huge bedroom but I do need somewhere to sit and dry my hair and faff about with jewellery

Where do you keep makeup ?
DedalusBloom · 16/01/2022 11:38

Here it is in situ - which looks nicer than the quite stark pic on their website.

I have a very large designer makeup bag that I keep on my dressing table, then a smaller cheaper one to chuck in my bag for day to day top ups.

SocksAndTheCity · 16/01/2022 11:50

Mine is split between a proper perspex storage box with different holders for different things and four drawers, a sturdy cardboard box next to it with the overspill (including palettes and whatnot) and a makeup bag for taking away with me if I'm going somewhere overnight.

The bulk of it sits on the living room windowsill, since that's where the light is best. If it's dark out when I'm putting it on I just pick up the bits I want and take them in the bathroom Smile

TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 16/01/2022 14:05

I want a house with a dressing table. I had a bedside table once but now I have DH's desk next to my pillow, the hairdryer is in my office (the box room) and my makeup is in the bathroom where there's a mirror (don't need a mirror to tell if my hair is dry). When the kids leave home and we downsize maybe I'll get one, but then I won't need to put makeup on I hope!

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 16/01/2022 14:11

I don’t have much makeup so I keep it in a makeup bag. My brushes are kept in a vintage pot.
They sit on the bathroom cabinet.

Catra · 16/01/2022 14:13

I keep mine in a large, wooden, cantilever sewing box.

All the different compartments are ideal for different kinds of makeup, it's solidly built and helps keep everything tidy.

I store it in my bedroom away from moisture.

I've got a dressing table which I don't use and it's taking over the kitchen instead because the only time I get to do it is when the kids are eating breakfast.
I had imagined I would get up earlier and sit at the dressing table once I organised it, but of course I don't get up any earlier and I don't ever sit down. I get up and I am on my feet all day until I lie down at bedtime.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/01/2022 14:14

In a draw in my bedroom, I apply it using the mirror on the front of my wardrobe.

isthismylifenow · 16/01/2022 14:15

I have a chest of drawers with a mirror on the wall that is my dressing table. Top drawer is where I keep every day make up and skin care. 2nd drawer, underwear one side and perfume the other.
Third drawer, socks, bras and the skin care I dont use all the time (samples, free gift bags etc)
Bottom drawer is full of things I will need some day. Self tan, hair stuff, extra cotton wool, the toner, (and moisturizer, shampoo, body lotion) that will get used sometime.

I do need a sort out, yes.
