Restyle my hair

I'll be 43 soon...my hair is terrible. Desperately needs chopping, as it's almost down to my waist as Ive been too nervous to visit a hairdresser since covid. Very poor condition as I wear it tied back all the time and gets knotted around bobbles regularly. Getting a lot of grey now. To top it off, anaemic for 7 years so its gone all thin too, pull clumps out everytime I wash it. Mid brown, but would go with any colour.

What would you do with it? I want to look nicer and not so middle aged/frumpy. I dont like a straight bob, but otherwise im clueless.

A friend of mine recently had her long hair cut into a choppy pixie cut and dyed blonde. She looks AMAZING. I'd do something drastic x

I would think a short mussed up hair do would be the way to go if your hair is thinning. Google pixie cuts x

I wouldn't go crazy drastic like mentioned above. That's just silly and way too much of a change for most people. I would cut your hair up to your bra band and have the stylist add long layers throughout for body and movement.

Start there and see how you feel. You can always go shorter, going longer in much harder if you chop it all off. I think you'll feel more relaxed about making a change this way.

I agree not to go crazy, you can still have a big change but leaving other options available. How about this type of look with a few cool toned highlights to merge the greying hair through your own natural colour?

I did dye it pink and purple during the first lockdown (those live colour dyes) and liked it.

I'd like to just go to a hairdresser and have a suprise!

Would you consider something like the attached photos? You could definitely add some bright colours to these.
I had a pixie for years and agree it looks great and is good for fine hair. I wouldn’t have a blonde one though as requires proper bleaching which can irritate the scalp.

I quite like the 2nd photo, i've not had a fringe for decades so it would be a change

Haha. The second photo is pretty much what I had done recently! It’s a curtain fringe and quite fine so if I hate it/can’t manage it (I love it) I can grow it out easily.

I think this is a lovely hairstyle. Very flattering for most people with straighter hair.

I brought similar to my hair dresser a while ago and she expressed doubt because my hair is thick and a curly and I'd spent years straightening it but I told her to go ahead, told her I'd just have to straighten it, it hasn't turned out straight and I could not straighten my hair right now, too short, but it has turned out amazing. Surprisingly curly! I've given up on straightening it and it falls in to this 70s style shaped big hair curly cut. So even with curly hair, this cut works.
Recommend it to anybody sick to the teeth of the part time job that is straightening your curly hair.
