Smart black trousers

My dad is on end of life care and I've realised I have no suitable clothes for his funeral in my wardrobe. Can anyone recommend where I can get smart black trousers to suit a 5'2 size 14 with a bit of a belly? Preferably not pure polyester.

Boden Hampshires are my go to trouser. They do both a straight leg and a 7/8. They are stretch jersey ponte so very flattering.
So sorry about your Dad. Flowers

countrygirl99 · 13/01/2022 14:30

They look a bit too fitted for me.
I'm googling like mad and getting very frustrated with how many brands don't put the leg length on the size guide.

Sorry about your dad. Marks do xtra short and short length trousers without waistbands.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I needed to make a similar purchase for a colleagues funeral. I got the black tailored trousers from Next. They're £28 on the website. Lovely quality and comfortable. I've regular but there is a petite size.

I think I will try going to Milton Keynes and trudging round the shops first. I hate buying trousers at the best of times and tend to live in Craghoppers walking trousers.

OK they are polyester BUT we are same height and size and they look OK on.

I am sorry about your dad. I am a similar size to you and needed to update my work wardrobe this week. I bought these from M&S. The model pictures are awful and do not do them justice. They have a slight elastication to the rear waistband and belt loops. They fall really flatteringly and flow more than the pictures might suggest. I wore a slim black leather belt and tucked my shirt in and felt very confident wearing them when I did my presentation.

My best wishes to you at this difficult time.

M&S trousers

Sorry about your Dad
How about Boden Richmonds? I am 5ft 4 and the 7/8 length is perfect for me

SpeedRunParent · 13/01/2022 15:17

M&S have a nice pair of wide-leg trousers. I wear them to work and a few people have said how nice they are. I'm 5'3" and size 16.

SpeedRunParent · 13/01/2022 15:17

Sorry, I meant to say that I'm sorry to hear about your dad.

SpeedRunParent · 13/01/2022 15:19

The handy thing about M&S is that they do 3 leg lengths.

FinallyHere · 13/01/2022 15:22

So sorry to read about your Dad.

Before you trudge round lots of shops, I would look on line at M&as and do a click and collect order for any that look suitable, in a range of sizes that might be right for you.

Have them delivered to the store then you can go in and try them all on confident they will have the sizes you want to try in stock.

Any you don't want to keep can be returned for refund on the spot. It's a really useful service that I've found to work really well.

Just trudging round shops might be dispiriting g esp if you then find what you want but they don't have it in stock.

countrygirl99 · 13/01/2022 15:22

Looks like M&S is definitely worth a visit. Thanks.

Yes, they are lovely with a good weight fabric. They are very popular as they were out of stock at my M&S when I wanted to get them this week.
Callmecordelia · 13/01/2022 15:28

Sorry about your Dad.

I wear these to work all the time:

www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60274484?color=BLACK&prevPage=srp#intid=prodColourId-60274484

I'm normally a 14 in M&S trousers, but I had to get a 16 short in these, despite being average height.

They are now out of stock in your size though. To me it looks like the new version are these trousers, judging by the photos and description, but be prepared to order a few in different lengths/sizes and send them back:

www.marksandspencer.com/wide-leg-trousers/p/clp60527922?color=BLACK&prevPage=srp

They look smart with a shirt tucked in and a jacket.

KiloWhat · 13/01/2022 17:38

As PP said I'd order in to the store if you go for m&s especially if you're a size 14, my local is always low on 12-16s

countrygirl99 · 13/01/2022 17:56

Good tip
