Apparently my skin is very dehydrated and I have no idea how look after it, I feel I've been using the wrong products for years. I'm in my 20s and am also very prone to acne around my chin area, please help! Any suggestions welcome, I have no idea how to look after my skin!

Basic skincare would be:
AM
Gentle cleanser or water cleanse
Light mosturiser
Spf

PM
Double cleanse (oil or balm cleanser to remove make up then gel or foam cleanser)
Moisturiser

I'd add in a gentle chemical exfoliant (the ordinary lactic acid for eg) two mornings per week before moisturiser and spf.

It can get more complicated with serums, toners retinols etc if you want it to and if you want to address certain issues like acne, aging etc

If your skin is dehydrated you need to add hyaluronic acid its in loads of skincare nit expensive and is great for dehydrated skin.

Rosewater is very good! I use it as a toner.
Anything with hyaluronic acid
Superdrug has a really cheap hydrating serum it's there own brand called pure I think and then i add neutrogena hydroboost face cream on top.
Be mindful of what you're using to wash your face with, cetaphil has a nice wash, it doesn't strip the skin

Drink more water.

I have combo/oily acne prone and dehydrated skin. My routine is simple with less steps but I make sure to add in a hyaluronic serum for hydration.

My routine is:

AM

  • cleanser: either Dermalogica Ultracalming or Neutrogena hydro boost
  • eye cream: currently from Beauty Pie
  • serum: La Roche Posay hyalu B5
  • moisturiser: Bioderma sebium hydra

PM

  • cleanser, eye cream and serum as above
  • moisturiser: either the Bioderma as above or Beauty Pie retinol

If my skin is particularly dehydrated or dull I'll use one of the Beauty Pie ceramide capsules
