I'd love a designer bag for my upcoming 40th.. no idea where to start as would never usually treat myself. What would you choose?

Maybe look up some catalogs first to see what you like visually?

You might want to narrow this down. Designer bags can range from £150 to £3,000+ depending on the brand, or if you want the Birkin bag £10,000+!!!

I love Polene bags, for me they sit at the right price point (£300-£500), are really well made, have a number of beautiful designs, and leather colours and finishes. I particularly like the Un Nano, and Sept.

A bag I have lusted over for a really long time is Gucci Dionysus in tan suede, to me it is beautiful, but more than I am prepared to pay for a bag, and the tan suede concerns me in terms of longevity.

Chloé Drew is a really pretty ladylike bag, the deign has been popular for over 5 years and I still think it is stunning. Again, over £1,000, so I would not buy it at a new full price, though I would consider a secondhand one. Chloé also have other styles which are really pretty such as Faye and Tess.

Givenchy Antigona is really lovely, whenever I see it I think how beautiful and classy it is but still has some intriguing features.

Chanel bags are really popular - to me they are a little too traditional and dull and I don't love them, but they are popular for a reason. Very expensive, but if you buy a Boy in caviar leather they supposedly keep or even go up in value. Just a warning I have seen people saying that they think Chanels newer bags are lower in quality?

Thank you for this. I really have no clue so will take a look!

Hi @littlerose12345! I just had my 40th and had been lusting after bags for about a week hardcore! I went from looking at the Chanels, LV (the impreinte neo neo bucket bag is so bloody nice!), Gucci (I couldn't find the one I wanted the disco for some reason in black) , Givenchy is beautiful as pp said, Bottega Veneta cassette bag is so nice and looks like buttery leather too there are so many choices! I started off looking on Farfetch and net a porter. Polene yes is stunning too so much to look at! I ended up opting for a YSL Lou camera bag with silver hardware and it's about to come in the post soon! Happy shopping! Also depends what size you want and would you wear for work or just going out with only a few items.

Depends on your style

Mulberry amberley is a firm favorite in my friendship group and quite practical. My mum was obsessed with mine do I got her one too.

I also second polene.

Aspinal currently have a good sale and nice selection. Depending budget you may be able to stretch to more than one.
Faves of mine include lottie, camera bag, totes and London tote. Lottie and camera bag are surprisingly practical

HelloDulling · 13/01/2022 06:49

Do you want a cross body, a big tote, a shoulder bag etc etc?

thebigpurpleone · 13/01/2022 06:52
