Desperately seeking low or even normal waisted jeans

Please help me find some jean options which are not high waisted. I'm 5'4 and I just find the huge amount of material high waisted ones have between the crotch and waist does not work for me. They either come up to my ribs or slip at the crotch. Where does everyone else put all this material? :)

I'm 5' 11 with a low waist and also have this problem. TBH I'm thinking of attaching braces and turning them into no-bib dungarees!

So if you can find some low waist ones - just sound the klaxon!

Watching hopefully Smile

I have had some success buying second hand on ebay

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 10/01/2022 17:57

It seems like such a normal thing to want!

It's quite a task. I only like low waist jeans, not fussed much on what type (flare, straight, skinny all good to me).
Sometimes h&m would have 1 or 2 low waist options but you need to check regularly. New Look of all places did a straight leg version last year which I found by accident so I bought 2 pairs.
Otherwise you have to google for expensive brands, PepeJeans used to do something but not sure if they still do.
Absolutely nothing else available that I know of.

Basically you have to google for half a day and see what comes up. Not much normally. I try it every year.

Good point! I can never find in my size but I wore my old pair to shreds: the best fit ever from my entire life was from Mango or MNG, straight jeans called Claudia, I think they only did this in indigo, or a very dark blue. The word Claudia is written on the inside in a sort of handwritten typeface tilted to the right. No low waist jeans ever fitted so well. But this is an old model so very hard to find even second hand although they do come up sometimes (never in my size yet)

Hollister do a low rise. I wear the mid rise ones which sit comfortably low enough for me, I find them to be decent casual jeans.

EllaPaella · 11/01/2022 07:26

Hush do plenty of mid-rise jeans.

dementedpixie · 11/01/2022 07:28

I wear next mid rise

Svara · 11/01/2022 07:34

There are heaps on ebay as high waisted is in.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 11/01/2022 07:59

Thank you! I’m looking through the recommendations. Haven’t found something quite right yet, but will keep trying!

ASOS has low rise jeans. I bought these and they're more of a mid/low but much better than most jeans that are about. I can't bear high rise either. I also got a pair from a charity shop, so that's worth a look.

Have a look at River Island

HemHelp · 11/01/2022 08:45

I hate them too. I just bought some mid rise jeans from Gap.

Legoninjago1 · 11/01/2022 08:52

Seven for all mankind ?

greenlynx · 11/01/2022 08:59

I’ve got mid rise jeans from Next. They are £24 and available in several colours. There is slim version as well.

Tryingtogetitright · 11/01/2022 09:19

Espirit on Amazon, I bought a of pairs from there recently. I don't get on with high waists either!

BusterGonad · 11/01/2022 09:57

Mango Kim jeans claim to be low rise, the Isa jeans say mid rise. I haven't seen them in the flesh but I came across them on their Web page.

TheFlis12345 · 11/01/2022 10:14

Uniqlo do mid rise.

AuntMasha · 11/01/2022 13:51

I sympathise OP — I prefer mid -rise myself. Urban Outfitters do low rise and ultra low rise which seems to be making a comeback.

LiveFromNewYork · 11/01/2022 14:11

I'm always moaning about the lack of low rise jeans on here! There are some vague signs that they are on the way back in. I don't particularly want them to be 'in' as then those who want high won't be happy and then eventually they'd be 'out'. We should just be able to access a range of rises!!

One problem now is that something will be labelled low rise but either visibly isn't (like the Asos pair linked by a PP) OR when they arrive clearly aren't. The default rise is simply higher.

I bought a pair of cords about six years ago from Next which weren't really labelled as any rise but were fairly low, now you just wouldn't find that. You used to buy 'normal' jeans in TopShop, now everything is higher, even if it's labelled mid rise. You need ultra low rise in order to get vaguely low rise these days. Needless to say said cords are almost in shreds. I have money to spend on new bottoms but nowhere to spend it. I look very scruffy as a result! Can literally not buy any jeans in M&S or Gap or most 'high street' retailers.

And obviously you are dreaming if you think you'll find the rise measurement listed anywhere online.

I do by necessity buy most of my bottoms on ebay second hand.

I bought some Tommy Hilfiger ones from Zalando that are low, that's the last pair I bought new. I don't particularly want Tommy Hilfiger jeans but they do tend to have some low ones, as do Pepe as mentioned by a PP.

lindyloo57 · 11/01/2022 16:10

if you can find them on ebay oasis scarlet jeans, I find are more mid then low, I can't wear high rise. Even these seems a little lower than my m&s lily's.

Chardlettuce · 11/01/2022 16:13

I bought a pair from h+m today. I went to the shop and found a very small selection of low rise jeans, in amongst the masses of high rise jeans. I snapped them up quickly!

Hereforthedramaz · 11/01/2022 16:13

I'd second 7 for all mankind, I have recently bought a few low and mid rise.

Nice jeans too

SoupDragon · 11/01/2022 16:17

Esprit always seem to do a good variety of rise and leg shape combinations. I order online and returns are free so you can try several styles.
