Superdrug Colour Effects Rich Red 6.4

As Superdrug has changed the formula of this well loved hair colour without notice, changing it from the beautiful Rich Red to dull brown.
There is now soooo many fans complaining on the review section of their site and taking to social media.

So just wondering if anyone had any alternative ideas to to get the same distinctive red for hair, especially for those of us who don't do well with henna products.

Hey! I can finally answer this one, spent the last 3 months trying out all the temporary hair dye brands and formulas after being an avid rich red user for the last 5 years.
Tried Adore, Directions and Wella so far, with Wella being the closest to rich red that i've found. The product is Wella Colour Fresh Mask in 'Copper Glow' - it has the same intense colour pay off as rich red with a slightly more copper tone. It's beautiful and stains my hair like rich red used to. (I have naturally medium ash blonde hair with high porosity) I leave it on for 1 hr 30 for a really intense colour.

Hope this helps at all! Still on the quest for the exact match but this is very close. Next up i've bought ASP Affinage Hotshotz in True Copper to try, ill keep you updated if this ends up being a closer match xx

Hi Scarlet Witch! I've just noticed that the 6.4 has disappeared completely from Superdrug site. I asked is it due to going back to new formula/colour or another crafty Superdrug ploy of making vanish and all the really bad reviews.

Haven't heard anything back yet.... you may want to add a message? Strength in numbers 😀

I’m devastated that Rich red 6.4 has been discontinued. Surely Superdrug should have given us good warning so we could stock up. Please Superdrug listen to what your customers need. Do not disregard valued customers.

Apparently they're now bringing out a new colour (more like the newer horrible brown 6.4) called 6.75 I think. So looks like they're not bothering with any actual red colouring... so much for their blurb about wanting feedback from their customers 🙄

I’ve been in touch with Superdrug and no plans to bring 6.4 Rich Red back. Feeling devastated.

You can usually find the old bottles of Superdrug Colour Effects on eBay. I’ve purchased the warm copper gold & the light strawberry blonde before from eBay & they are the genuine older type bottles - the true colour they use to be, only thing is, they tend to come in batches of 6 for like a tenner but if you use it it’s not wasted. Worth a look to see if you can find rich red.

Hi guessagain, thanks for reply. I did look on EBay straight away but had no luck with my particular colour. I would willing buy a bundle of them if I could find my colour. Feeling desperate as I don’t know what to use as a replacement 😟
