Burgh Island - is it cold? Will I need a shawl/jacket/wrap?

I've posted before about posh frocks for a trip to Burgh Island and have some options now for that (have been buying second hand like a maniac and still have to choose). I'm now worrying about whether it will be freezing in February - single-glazed deco windows etc.

Has anyone been in the winter? Can you advise me how cold I'm likely to be?

Honestly, take something you can throw over your shoulders, we went in May a couple of years ago and I got a bit chilled because it was damp and foggy. The hotel is lovely, and it will certainly be heated in February, if you're warm enough you don't need to wear anything but if you feel a bit chilly then you've got something with you.

This is England, you can never tell what it's going to do, just take stuff for all eventualities.

Thanks. I was initially hoping that posh hotel = powerful heating but now thinking there would be nothing worse than shivering miserably in my posh frock! This adds a whole new layer of complexity to getting dressed up, just when I thought I was sorted. 😖

I'm jealous. I hope you have a lovely time.

I've been. It was all single glazing windows. Drafty. Definitely wear a wrap!

I spent New Years there once. It’s amazing but definitely take a pashmina and hot water bottle. I don’t remember the downstairs rooms being cold but the bedroom was!

Hot water bottle! Top tip, thank you.

I've just ordered a beautiful velvet wrap and a faux mink from Etsy - both gorgeous. Fingers crossed warm enough!

Faux mink wrap sounds amazing! And Burch Island is magical. Have a great time

Agree with everyone - we went in a very miserable November week and it was chilly. Not least as we were the only people at the hotel for a couple of nights!

Live near by..blowing a hoolie today!...posh frock for dinner...wetsuit or walking boots and pack for all seasons in one day...

Came on to say goretex

We stayed one March and downstairs was lovely and cosy but the bedroom was chilly and for £1400 for two nights DBB I expected to be able to lounge after my bath not rush to hop into my pyjamas and socks!

It could be very very cold! The building is draughty, be prepared for four seasons in one day.
