How often do you use hand cream?

For me, Never!

I don’t know why I don’t as I use lots of other beauty products and always moisturise my face. It’s as if I don’t think it would make any difference so I have never bothered. I am at the age now when I’m wondering if I should have!

Does everyone else use it and does it do anything?

I use it throughout the day, after every time I wash my hands. But that is just because my hands otherwise get really dry. I don’t think my hand cream does anything else beneficial for my hands! I use O’Keefe’s.

Following this now out of curiosity as I saw hands mentioned somewhere else on MN and it reminded me of an ad years back. Possibly Nivea, basically saying, “Look, my hands are so young, I could be confused for my daughter if you are looking at my hands only “.

Is ‘hand age’ a thing still??

Every night as standard, with more during the day if needed e.g. lots of hand washing.

I don’t oil up the habit at the start of last year when washing and sanitising where taking their toll. Stick with it as it does make a difference to both skin and nails. I don’t know if my hands look younger but they have a nice sheen now.

Previously I used to only do it when having a manicure or doing one myself.

Also do a hand mask and foot mask once a month now.

My favourites are D’Alchemy Spectacular Hand therapy for a cream and Seoulista Rosy Glow/Roay Toes for masks.

About 5-10 times a day

delilahbucket · 07/01/2022 20:33

Every time I wash my hands and an expensive one at bed time. If I didn't my hands get so dry and sore and the skin in between my fingers breaks and really hurts, plus my cuticles start peeling.
I have a Garnier one for during the day and have tubes of it everywhere (car, bag, work, kitchen, bedroom) and then I use The Chemistry Brand first thing and last thing, which has really improved the appearance of my skin

ButterflyBitch · 07/01/2022 20:34

Quite a lot in winter as my hands get dry and I hate the feeling. Plus hand cream smells nice. Not so much in summer. Sometimes if I’m a bit eczema itchy and my skin needs soothing.

sofakingcool · 07/01/2022 20:37

Regularly

I hand wash a lot during the day - I'm a children's nursery nurse so deal with a lot of nappies.

In the summer I get Pomphylyx (sp?!) on my fingers, so use plenty of cream otherwise my skin cracks

I use Epaderm in the summer and O'keefes the rest of the time

MeanderingGently · 07/01/2022 20:41

Every day, and at night before bed. Especially in winter.

BurbageBrook · 07/01/2022 20:46

Never. Don’t feel the need.

RaininSummer · 07/01/2022 20:51

Whenever I have washed them with soap or had then in the washing up as they feel dry and uncomfortable otherwise. Have tubes in every room, handbag and desk at work.

purplesequins · 07/01/2022 20:51

a lot.

I cycle a lot which makes skin dry plus tend to get pomphilox (spelling?) eczema on my hands if I don't.
palmers cocoa butter intense (in the pot) mornings & night and any other that soaks in quickly with little scent in between.

onedayoranother · 07/01/2022 20:52

I generally don't, but a number of my friends do. I got some in a post Christmas sale and I've used it off and on if I remember. Can't see any difference but it smells nice!

Forrandomposts · 07/01/2022 20:53

Maybe once or twice a year?!

AcatcalledCat · 07/01/2022 20:55

Before bed and throughout the day if I have a bit of spare time. I only like ones that absorb quickly though as I can’t stand greasy hands! Currently using a Caudalie one I got in a Christmas set but my favourite are the Body Shop ones as they are cheap and I get through them super quickly.

AnotherMansCause · 07/01/2022 20:55

In winter, at least a couple of times a day. In summer, not very often.
Last year though, all the bloody time as my hands were absolutely destroyed by all the hand gel.

Clymene · 07/01/2022 20:58

4-5 times a day. I have eczema and use Aveeno or l'occitaine, whoever comes to hand (Grin) first

Letitsnoooow · 07/01/2022 20:59

I haven’t used it since all the hand sanitizer either. I haven’t felt I needed to. I do get eczema but not on my hands.

All the time, Vaseline hand and nail, nothing exciting but my hands tend towards crispy, horses and dogs

dudsville · 07/01/2022 21:58

You don't feel dry then? I've Airways had dry skin. Since my 20s I've carried hand cream and I lotion all the time.

TabithaTittlemouse · 07/01/2022 21:59

I million times a day! I’m a nurse, constant hand washing over the years has killed my skin.

SittingOvation · 07/01/2022 22:03

After every wash. My hands feel ever so dry if I don't.

If they didn't feel dry, I probably wouldn't bother. They certainly don't look any younger than my friends' who don't use cream 🤷🏻‍♀️

Blossom64265 · 07/01/2022 22:03

10-20 times a day. Basically every time I wash my hands. I have ridiculously dry and sensitive skin. My hands would be raw and gaping if I didn’t slather them in moisturizer . I keep pump bottles in all over the house. I do my full body twice a day.

ExtremelyDetermined · 07/01/2022 22:03

At work every time I wash my hands as the liquid soap is really drying. At home we use bar soap so I only need it occasionally, maybe once or twice a week.

UserBot989 · 07/01/2022 22:05

Never. I hate having slimy hands. Have only felt the need to moisturise my hands if i was washing something and got too much detergent on my hands

Hbh17 · 07/01/2022 22:07

Never. It feels horrible & just makes me want to wash my hands again.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 07/01/2022 22:08

Every night. I struggle with the feel of it but I like the caudalie one best
