My new boots....

Hi all, I've bought a lovely pair of boots in the sale, a size 3 so tend to get the bargains! They were reduced from £170 to £50. They arrived and I really like them, my problem is that I'm 4'11'' and paranoid that they look too big on me, that they are too tall on my legs, on normal height people they would sit lower on the leg. I don't want to feel self conscious or people to think they look ridiculous on me. I have a long standing paranoia as a short woman that I look like a kid playing dress up when wearing 'grown up' things (I'm 46!!). They're really comfy.
Do they look OK or too big??

I think they look great and you got a bargain. They are quite high on your legs, so I'd try a few different positions like sitting and kneeling and other everyday movements in them

cultkid · 06/01/2022 20:05

That's a bargain are they dubarry? I got the slim fit ones 6 years ago and I wear them on all my walks they are so much better then wellies. The only thing I'll say is the slim fit and I am very small like 47 kg small, getting any jeans into them other then skinny jeans isn't possible. So if you wear trousers that aren't skin tight then you won't be able to get them into the boot, does this make sense?

You want them tight to keep them water proof for your legs obv xx they look fab

Huntswomanonthemove · 06/01/2022 20:06

They look lovely. ❤️

RosesAndHellebores · 06/01/2022 20:08

I'm 5'7" and would give my right arm for boots that length.

KirstenBlest · 06/01/2022 20:09

Also check that your feet don't move about in the boot.
I am quite envious

Guiltypleasures001 · 06/01/2022 20:11

They look fab defiantly keep them op

muddyford · 06/01/2022 20:11

Really gorgeous. A bargain.

CeliaCanth · 06/01/2022 20:20

They look great. Better than that type of boot which only comes halfway up your calf!

EduardoStobarto · 06/01/2022 20:33

Oh thank you all so much, I really needed to hear all that, I will wear them with confidence!
They are not Dubarry, can't afford them but these looked so similar, they are Moretta boots. Size 3 is often the last size left in the sales so I'm lucky with the bargains. They do hit the back of my knee when I go up and down stairs but I can live with that as I'll use them mostly for walking and agree about the skinny jeans that they need to be tight fitting with them.
I've never really thought that taller people probably don't get boots sitting that high on the leg so that's an interesting perspective when I think they look too long.
Really appreciate your feedback xx

They're lovely boots. If I'm completely honest because you asked and so I looked with the thought already in my head I do think they hit a little high on your legs - they look like they'd maybe hit the back of your legs if you sat down? - but that would never have occurred to me if you'd just asked 'are these nice boots?'. I don't think anyone else will notice or think anything of their length on you, they'll just envy your lovely shoes!

KimDeals · 06/01/2022 20:37

They look lovely - they certainly LOOK like dubarrys! They will drop an inch too as they wear in and crumple down a little.

They look good on you!

Ohyesiam · 06/01/2022 20:39

You look great in them

soundsgreektome · 06/01/2022 20:39

They look fab, and they’ll relax down off the back of your legs. Keepers!

2TurtleDovesInARow · 06/01/2022 20:44

I have Dubarrys that look very similar to this. They sit slightly lower on me but it's not something I'd notice....I think they look great on you!

FindingMeno · 06/01/2022 20:46

They look great!

HundredMilesAnHour · 06/01/2022 21:49

Sorry but I think they look too wide for you at the top, more like wellies. Are they supposed to fit like that? They might look better with leggings but I don't think they work well with the jeans because they're too wide for you.

minniep · 06/01/2022 22:01

They are gorgeous. I'm also 4"11 size 3 but I have chunky calves so books are a disaster on me

Squills · 06/01/2022 22:09

They look great on you.

I take size 3 but am a little taller than you and I live in Dubarry boots. I know your boots are a different make but they look very similar. I find that my boots feel a slightly long at first but within a few days they drop down.

You got a real bargain!

neonjumper · 06/01/2022 22:10

Sorry but they look to wide at the top and the two contrasting materials look like you have barrels wrapped round your lower legs .

KittytheHare · 06/01/2022 22:47

How rude! I love that wide at the top look, and they're a great pair of boots.
TheDogsMother · 06/01/2022 22:54

I love these type of boots and prefer that they come up to the knee rather than lower. As previous OP said I think they will relax down a bit over time. I got something similar for Christmas (not Dubarrys) and I deliberately chose the ones with the leather trim around them.

liveforsummer · 07/01/2022 07:17

I have these boots. I'm more of a 3.5 and they are a bit small for me. Normally these types of boots run big so I was praying these would be the same but unfortunately not. They are also very narrow on the calf which is very unusual for me. I'm thinking you maybe got one of the wider fits? DD has stolen them and they are a similar height on her as they are on you and she loves them. If you find them a bit wide get some thick knee high socks or over the knee and wild them down. Looks great under them anyway and solves any flapping problem

Cantfindausernamethatsnottaken · 07/01/2022 17:50

Hi, I have a pair too. They will go down with walking, bending etc.
However,I actually think the full length makes a person look taller than ankle boots.I think you look fab in them.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 07/01/2022 17:57

You look lovely in them OP. You won't get 100% of people agreeing but good to see the majority think they're fine.
A key point is most wouldn't have noticed without prompting.

Great bargain too!

JFM27 · 07/01/2022 18:18

Being 4 11 myself i know your problem ,i personally mosty only wear ankle boots as taller ones too high. But these look ok they dont look too high as dont reach your knees do they and they are not wide, boots flappy at top dont look right on slim legged shorties i agree but these look ok.

Agree we tiny footed people do well in sales as im really a 2 even worse with shoes but with boots wearing socks 3 is fine, you can often get trainers in a 2 and ive a lovely pair of silver supagras in kids 2 about £20.00 cheaper than adult version. And just got brown leather with touch of leopard Moda de pela ankle boots in 3 in sale reduced by over £40.00. Then being tiny isnt so bad. Clothes tend to be same, midis maxi on melol
