feet. Any chiropodists here?

I've had a toenail fungus for around 10 years now. Dr said the only stuff that would work on it messes with your kindeys (or liver, I can't remember now) so did not want to prescribe it, and said I had to learn to live with it instead.
Can I go to a chiropodist with a fungal toenail? I'd love someone to sort my feet out.

My dh took the antifungal tablets (terbinafine) and had regular blood tests to check they weren't affecting his liver. He had to take them for several months

I'm not a chiropodist, but I get toenail fungus fairly regularly. I use a topical liquid from Boots and it always does the trick. Maybe worth a go? You paint it onto/under your nail twice a day. It's quite expensive for what it is (about £20 for a tiny bottle) and it takes months to see a result, but might be a good alternative to products that you ingest.

If you get fungal nail frequently then sounds like you arent fully getting rid of it each time

I have had fungal nails on one foot for years. I see a chiropodist regularly who keeps the nails an ok shape etc but she says topical treatments won't work and I don't want to take the tablets. There is a laser treatment that might help but it costs thousands! In the winter my nails aren't visible, in the summer I paint them with a special polish that is supposed to a bit more breathable and they look ok. They don't hurt and it hasn't spread to my other foot, so for now I'm living with it! Worth seeing a chiropodist and seeing what they say I think.
