Budget bump coverings- help me please!

My budget is very much primark, new look and TU at sainsburys right now.

Teacher going back to school with a bigger bump than I thought possible for a first (well, that got this far) pregnancy. I need some sack-like coverings to stop the young children asking questions and parents peering.

Everything I have seen has been quite twee- I absolutely hate floral and ditsy dotsy prints. I like block colours in autumnal tones and black and navy, and a spot of animal print.

Any help appreciated!

Boohoo maternity, new look maternity is worth it. Large baggy jumpers/tops and leggings. Get maternity leggings or trousers that are elasticated rather than those daft below the bump ones, they won't last long. Long cardigans are your friend and layering helps draw the eye away from him

Managed to keep my second pregnancy pretty much hidden with element of is she fat or is she prego now 29 weeks and no hiding the bump !

Good luck

Invested in some lovely but fitted clothes as I haven’t got on very well with pregnancy in the past. Wasn’t expecting to get into second trimester!

Congratulations on getting this far! I know it's a huge deal. When I didn't want people to know for similar reasons I wore my usual work trousers with an elastic band over the button hole ( see pic) and I wore longer tops like a shirt or a long line jumper. I didn't buy anything until I was six months pregnant. I also borrowed tons from anyone I trusted enough to tell. Themomedit has great ideas too

I bought nearly all my maternity clothes on Vinted and Depop. Found some really lovely items and all cheap and cheerful!

DoodleBelle · 04/01/2022 10:11

Oversized jumpers, over the bump leggings, maternity jeans and lightweight scarves work well for me. New look and Asda have been my go to places for cheap and cheerful maternity wear.

eBay - for bundles of clothes.

Isonthecase · 04/01/2022 10:15

I bought quite a lot of nicer makes on eBay for peanuts, seraphine jeans where good. That and some stuff that was just the next size up covered me pretty well until nearly 20 weeks. Baggy tops and jumpers are your friend.

Man's shirt over leggings

Cooper88 · 04/01/2022 10:59

Fb marketplace normally has maternity bundles.

candlelightsatdawn · 04/01/2022 12:58

@Suprima I'm glad this pregnancy is progressing well for you and reading between the lines I'm so sorry for your loss previously 💐

I hated buying maternity clothes for this exact reason. Bastarding things used to mock me in my wardrobe and I hated seeing them so I tend to buy cheap maternity clothes too and leave it to the v last point I can just in case !

Congratulations and enjoy !

Also SHEIN is good for cheap mat clothes but look at reviews before buying !

Does Peacocks exist? 14 years when I was pregnant with DD they had a huge sale on so I managed to get some really maternity bargains!

Disgruntledpelicanlady · 04/01/2022 13:01

Boohoo have lots of smock dresses in the sale. Luckily I liked baggy dresses over leggings for teaching previously so I now still have plenty of room to grow but noone is questioning my big shapeless dresses haha
