Nail broken on nail bed

I've broken a toe nail and the break has gone up onto the nail bed so though I've cut it and filed it, it is catching. Is there a nail product I can buy that will form a temporary cover, like a thick nail varnish or something, or do I just need to put a plaster on it and wait for it to grow out?

I use a cut up teabag and either stick it on with clear varnish or I have even used superglue. File til smooth when set.

I used to try doing repairs but I couldn't never get them look decent or to stay on. If it is still catching, I would keep it covered till it grows out.

Use Sally Hansen 'Nailgrowth Miracle'. Incredible stuff!

I did this when my nail split down into my nail bed and kept catching on everything. It really worked! Very easy too. Here's a link

Tea bag or single layer of kitchen roll

A tiny piece of tissue and a drop of superglue.

Thank you all!

I did this too and use a teabag and nail glue but can I ask others how long ago you broke your nails and whether they have healed? My nail seems to be very prone to cracking again whenever I’ve grown it out which is very frustrating.

@greenhillfaraway I did the teabag trick and the crack grew out, however that nail did have a tendency to split in the same place again. I've been taking skin, hair and nail vitamins (about £3 from Tesco) for the past few months and that seems to have toughened my nails up.

I might try that @flowerflour. I am just about at the stage of it having grown out again so I'll keep on with the teabag alongside the supplements for a few months and see if that does the trick. Unfortunately mine is a toenail and I appear to be prone to stubbing that toe too frequently Confused
