Can we have a chat about style for size 18-20?

I am a size 18-20 and I don't feel I know how to dress. I put an outfit on, feel OK and then see it in a photo or video and think, what was I thinking.

If you are that size, what do you wear for work (smart casual) and weekends.

If anyone would feel comfortable sharing photos, that would be amazing for inspiration.

For work I get most of my clothes from eBay. I mostly wear Balloon dresses or longer skirts. If I'm cycling into work I wear trousers. The best ones I have are from the Amazon brand Find. Because I get most of my work clothes second hand I can't really plan my wardrobe. You have to take what's available which means I have a selection of eccentric pieces which weren't exactly what I thought I was getting. You just learn to roll with it. Brands I watch out for are Rundholz Black Label, Oska, Bitte Kai Rand and Ishiko.

At home I'm a trousers and long sleeved t shirt girl in the winter. T shirts from Uniqlo and currently I'm living in Hush Aimee joggers. I also rate flat front jeans from Seasalt.

For reference this is what I mean by a balloon dress though I always want sleeves.

Where do you carry most of your weight Op? If your mostly tummy, like an apple, try those tiered or wrapped dresses. Rebecca Adlington from
Bake off a couple of years ago has a fab Instagram account and tried loads of dresses on. She’s a bit bigger than you though. But she’s an Apple shape. And looks lovely in tiered dresses.

They’re no good for me as I’m pear shaped. So I go for outfits that show off my curves. I can’t wear skirts and tops or jeans or tops. Make me look massive. So I stick with empire dresses, cardigans, sport hold in black leggings and do the layer look. Long black spaghetti top (next) with a shorter top/jumper.

There’s something about being pear shaped and sticking to rule of 3. Cutting your body into 3. Hope that makes sense

I’m currently size 22. I often wear skinny jeans or faux leather leggings with boots and a nice shirt. Sometimes dress, tights and boots. I am blonde and wear a lot of black, gold, navy, leopard.

I’m a similar size to you, and for smart casual wear M&S Siena black jeans with a longish v neck thin wool jumper or a midi dress and leggings/ tights with DMs. Today I’m wearing a long sweatshirt and leggings from Hush but probably wouldn’t go out of the house in leggings even though bum is covered!
I’ve got a few coats and a big scarf collection for when I do leave the house!
My other current fave is a knee length hoodie dress.

I wear this dress quite a lot, with a teddy coat in winter or denim jacket the rest of the time www.kitandkaboodal.com/made-in-italy-boswin-leopard-dress-p2419?attribute%5B2%5D=11

@DelphiniumBlue Sienna Jeans and longish jumper for me too. The jeans are great although the black ones have faded a bit.

I have a number of Boden tunic tops from a few years back that still fit and wear them with a cardigan if I need to be a bit smarter. Failing that it's white long blouses.
