Where to buy nice flats?

Please help me out.

I used to buy a lot from Dune, Kurt Geiger and various Debenhams brands. Now I can't find anything at all in the first two and Debenhams is utter tat.

I'm looking for multiple pairs of flat shoes, pumps, preferably slightly pointed. Not square. Not necessarily your standard ballet pumps although I'd be fine with them. Need to be comfortable and smart.

I'm looking for black, navy and beige ones, leather, suede or canvas considered as I need some smarter ones as well as some for day to day casual wear when I'm out walking with DS. Preferably plain as my wardrobe is more smart/classy/smart casual. I'd consider something quirky and/or patterned too, but probably as an extra statement pair. Light looking, not chunky.

I'm so done with trainers (I'm on mat leave now). And so done with cheap, plasticky shoes everywhere, definitely no sweaty feet and no holes in the sole after a month for me, I don't want to waste my money.

Any suggestions, please?

How do the Sam Edelmans come up size wise please???

mobear · 01/01/2022 17:51

Hobbs do lovely flats, or Repetto.

StatisticallyChallenged · 01/01/2022 18:01

I was just going to suggest Sam Edelman, I have a couple of pairs of lovely loafers. Sizing is fairly average I'd say

Boden, Ayede and Repetto are very much my cup of tea, thank you all Flowers In fact I got a little bit too excited when I browsed through Repetto, they're just 😍 A higher price tag, but clearly quality and I shall treat myself for my birthday 🥂 Didn't find anything for me in Hobbs or White Stuff this time, but I really like their style so will keep browsing when I'm on my next lookout for sure.

And I found some good looking ones on Office as well. Always forget about them, I used to shop there quite a lot. Sometimes hit or miss with flats though, not always comfortable or good quality IMO.

So glad I asked. I spent hours that I don't have with a 5 month old trying to find something and was getting desperate there's nowhere to shop post-covid in the world dominated by boohooland. Glad you've proved me wrong Flowers xx

Sloafers! My feet are flat so a little tight at first and I was worried I'd have to send them back, but they do "give". They make my feet look dainty! I've got these ones which are smart on and run about all day in them, I have to dress quite smart for work:

but I think some of the colourways look quite "grannyish"

Boden

De88 · 01/01/2022 22:49

And Kurt Geiger.

Yes, I shop at KG a lot just couldn't find anything there for a few months now.

Any opinions on Cocorose, please? Found a gorgeous pair there, but unfortunately sold out. Do they repeat their ranges?

Otto and Ivy but only if you have bigger feet.

Tightwad2020 · 02/01/2022 09:38

O'Keeffe's

babouchette · 02/01/2022 09:40

I love Gabor ballet flats. They are super comfortable, not too round or square, have a proper heel (while still being flat) and they last for years.

Gonnagetgoing · 02/01/2022 09:50

Try Matalan. If you mean almond toe leather flats Zara often have them.

Gonnagetgoing · 02/01/2022 09:51

Canvas flats you can find in Primark, Tu at Sainsbury’s etc

PurplePansy05 · 02/01/2022 10:08

Gabor is similar to Hotter IMO, my mother's choice, but not mine.

Matalan is shocking quality in my experience (shoes, not clothes) and Primark is plasticky, sorry Blush Both are a complete opposite of what I'm looking for.

Otto & Ivy very pretty, but I'm size 4.5-5 like I said earlier.

New Look used to make comfy, long lasting flats years ago. What happened since, no idea.
