Would you expect a new £80 Seasalt jumper to bobble so soon?

Bought a beautiful seasonal knit, it has had say 8 wears with a gentle hand wash as per directions as I had split something down it. It is already bobbled. I am so disappointed and going to have to take it back. I rarely find things I like, I am so sad. Aside from that, you should expect more from £80 of jumper shouldn't you?

I don't own any cashmere as I'd be scared of ruining it (also worried it would just bobble!) but have a couple of merino wool jumpers from Uniqlo that whilst thin, they haven't bobbled, despite going through the wash multiple times (and probably on a standard wash, not wool, several times).

My experience with synthetic or mixed is varied- most knitwear seems to pill or bobble quite quickly in my experience, but I've had some quite cheap things from new look that have lasted for ages without pilling. Thinking of one particular knitted dress that lasted for ages, through so many washes, with no pilling at all.

It always seems to be pot luck tbh, which is really annoying!
