Best treatment for bleached damaged hair

Fullnessmind · 30/12/2021 22:31

I have had my brown hair lightened with bleach as I am going grey. I love the colour but my hair is frazzled. As it is in a graduated bob I am needing to straighten it . I'm using heat protection spray but I honestly look like Worzel Gummidge. Please help 😪

Olaplex?

Stiffcondomhat · 30/12/2021 22:36

Yes olaplex! Miracle worker, as it should be for the price!

BackBackBack · 30/12/2021 22:37

Olaplex.

Pinkstegosaurus · 30/12/2021 22:37

Pure coconut oil applied as a mask will help condition it, it’s a bugger to get out but made mine more manageable when it was dry and over coloured.

LSLLM · 30/12/2021 22:44

Regular olaplex treatment from the salon, or number 3 (or 0+3)

Don’t bother with the other numbers, they are diluted to hell and pointless.

Fullnessmind · 31/12/2021 12:25

Thanks so much, will look into Olaplex. Interestingly when my hair was bleached it was mixed with Olaplex!

Olaplex 7 bonding oil worked brilliantly for my bleached, previously greying hair. The very best thing though is a keratin blow dry, it’s completely transformed my hair.

MoltonSilver · 31/12/2021 15:31

Olaplex did nothing for my hair, unfortunatley. I had a pretty decent result from Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. For the price, L'oreal Wonder Water is surprisingly good.

Doorawakens · 31/12/2021 15:35

Olaplex was totally overwhelming for me sadly.

SOS 3 MINUTE MIRACLE DEEP TREATMENT aussiehair.com/aussie-products/3-minute-miracle-treatment/aussie-sos-3-minute-miracle-deep-treatment
On the other hand is great. This and the Aussie miracle hair oil has made a massive difference for me.

Doorawakens · 31/12/2021 15:36

Also like Loreal 8 second wonder water but the smell is really strong

Rocaille · 31/12/2021 19:20

Olaplex, PK Elasticizer, Wonder Water, Aphogee.

BoopTheFloof · 31/12/2021 19:22

Olaplex

CustardCreamm · 31/12/2021 19:22

Didn't like Olaplex but Philip Kingsley Elasticizer worked well!

SarahJessicaParker1 · 31/12/2021 19:26

Was coming on to say Olaplex

Fullnessmind · 02/01/2022 11:55

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I was looking up Olaplex reviews and came across Bleach London reincarnation mask - which had excellent reviews. I bought it from Superdrug and I am amazed at the difference. You only need a small amount on the ends. I left mine for 1.5 hours and my hair is back to its old self. It was 7.99 for a tube!

Fanola mask ! But only leave on for 4-5 minutes

cloudtree · 03/01/2022 15:45

Olaplex 2 is less diluted than olaplex 3

Coniferhedge · 03/01/2022 17:26

Another vote for Bleach London Reincarnation. Really good for the price.

Laiste · 03/01/2022 19:52

Glad you have found something OP.

I just wanted to second the vote for pure virgin coconut oil (solid in the jar unless the weather is hot and then it goes runny so be careful how you open it in summer)(my bedroom rug can testify to this Hmm)

You can get it in Tesco for a fiver or less than that in B&M ect.

I have tried Philip K elasterciser, i have tried Olaplex and i have tried the coconut oil. Honestly the end results are the same for me. The first 2 are a little easier to use but if you're on a budget do try the coconut oil. If you don't end up using it on your hair ever again you can use it on dry skin/chapped lips/rub it into your feet after filing.

Melt in your hands and smooth into dry hair and wrap in a towel or some clingwrap round your head (i know) and keep it on as long as poss. All night if you can. Sleep on a towel.

Yes it might drip down your face a bit and yes it takes 2 gentle shampoos to get out (then condition as normal) but you have the same results as £££££ products! :)

I have Olaplex 3 and 6 ( 6 is a Leave In ) - I will use it up but won't buy again.
I;ve used Elasticiser , bought a 1 litre bottle ages ago , it does last really well but it;s a bit of a faff. I put on dampened hair then a towelie turban

Superdrug Argan Pre Shampoo mask is nice (just found a jar in the drawer which is great because I'm on No Spend/Low Spend )

Coconut Oil brings my scalp up in lumps . I bought a small jar (H&B) but it didn't suit me at all.
