Threading pain?

How painful will threading be for my brows? First time

Sore but over quickly and worthwhile

Maddymorphosis · 30/12/2021 08:23

I wouldn't say it's much worse than waxing if you've had that, and it does give a more defined result.

The only thing I don't like is when they make you stretch the skin above your eyebrow and hold it up lol but not all places will do that

NoToLandfill · 30/12/2021 08:24

Get Elma cream from pharmacy. It numbs the skin. Put on 25 mins before the appointment.

It will hurt like fuck but the pain will be worth it, next time it won't hurt as much. Perseverance is needed.

dingdongmerrilyy · 30/12/2021 08:36

I actually do have Elma cream already so I'll try that first

I heard this was the least painful procedure compared to plucking and waxing?

LynetteScavo · 30/12/2021 08:37

It doesn't bother me - I like hearing the hairs being ripped out Confused

dingdongmerrilyy · 30/12/2021 08:38

If I use the Elma cream will it not hurt at all?

Amrapaali · 30/12/2021 08:41

Also depends on the technician. My previous tech took nearly 45 minutes for eyebrows and tache. Left me with pigmentation scars . That ain't good.

Have changed now. The new lady has fingers that glide over my face. Can hardly feel anything and finished in 10 minutes. So choose wisely...

It will give you the best effect. Don't focus on the pain, just imagine how fab your brows will look afterwards.

MyGreenTutu · 30/12/2021 08:43

I find it almost pleasurable and not really painful at all. I like the way they pop out of their folicles.

isthismylifenow · 30/12/2021 08:45

I have threaded for years and I'm so used to it now I barely feel it. But I'd say it's about the same pain wise as waxing.

That is for brows.

I've threaded my upper lip once! That's quite a different level of pain. I'd rather walk around with a tash

YourenutsmiLord · 30/12/2021 08:45

I think it's good to stretch the skin a bit otherwise the pull pull's your skin first and the hair second. Stretched skin just pulls the hair.

Oblomov21 · 30/12/2021 08:56

Threading doesn't hurt me at all. Obviously it does to some. Try it. What's the worst that can happen, you have to ask her to stop? Explain all this, it's your first time, ask her to start gently and to do both eyebrows at the same time, so if you do need to stop they are even.

NoToLandfill · 30/12/2021 10:45

I had microneedling and felt zero- using emla cream. Game changer. No idea why it's not used more. Bizarre.

Deux · 30/12/2021 10:49

The very first time the technician threaded a small area on my arm so I’d know what it feels like. Now, several years later I don’t feel it really and my eyebrows are like Brillo pads.

If you like the result, don’t leave it too long to have it done again and it’ll be quicker the second time as the shape is already there.

IamGusFring · 30/12/2021 10:55

I think threading hurts less than waxing but it goes on for longer . Had my brows waxed for the first time a few months ago and blimey but it was over fast !

Hoppinggreen · 30/12/2021 11:03

I hated it and stuck to waxing after having it done once
Waxing is like one big ouch but threading is like death by a thousand ouches

dingdongmerrilyy · 30/12/2021 15:19

Well I've done it. I asked her to be gentle explained it to was my first time etc. wasn't too bad at all. Took 5 mins. Will upload a pic can u see a difference?

I agree, I am hardcore but threading was next level.
JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 30/12/2021 16:21

Waxing really hurts and often makes my eyebrow/skin swell up, once I could see the overhang above my eye! Threading a little uncomfortable a feels like a zip being pulled, but better for me and just slight redness that goes quickly. I also like how threading technicians are more likely to go with natural shape than the brow bars (at least in my area)

Borracha · 30/12/2021 16:42

They look like they’ve been tidied up but they haven’t been shaped ie they haven’t created a defined arch. What did you ask for?

Glad it wasn’t too bad!

Pinkbonbon · 30/12/2021 16:46

I found waxing fine but threading made me tear up xD

You're eyebrows look good though!

dingdongmerrilyy · 30/12/2021 17:35

@Borracha tbh I can't remember what I asked for but I did make a big song and dance about it being my first time and to be gentle etc so maybe that's why as I did think myself they're not as shapely as I wanted

How soon before I go back ? Do ppl go monthly?
