Tubing mascara

I’ve only heard of this recently.

If you use it why is it better than normal mascara and which one do you recommend?

I used to use this 10yrs ago. It was one with 2 heads, either end of the mascara- L'oreal. Red and white coloured one. From memory, it was fine, but no better than the other, double head loreal one I use now.

I do recall when washing it off, little tubes would come off!

Hairyfriend · 30/12/2021 00:20

To clarify- the packaging was red and white- not the mascara Grin

WeAreTheHeroes · 30/12/2021 00:21

Easier to remove than waterproof mascara, better staying power than non-waterproof and waterproof which I find sometimes reacts with the oils in other make up and can smudge. I'm using Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High at the moment at the recommendation of an assistant in Superdrug.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/12/2021 00:29

Every other mascara smudges on me, including waterproof ones. I think have oily eyelids. Tubing ones always stay put, then remove easily with warm water when I want it off.

I've used the Clinique version, the No.7 version and the Glossier version. I think the Clinique one is probably the best.

0DAAT · 30/12/2021 00:34

I'm currently using a Mac one. My deepset eyes knock off my mascara because the lashes touch my upper lid. So I end up with little mascara on and heavy grey under my eyes. I'll try the Clinique one.
I identify them, as they need warm water to remove.

ElinorOliphant · 31/12/2021 09:21

Do they actually say tubing mascara on them? Can I tell which ones are in fact tubing?!

OP posts:
thethoughtfox · 31/12/2021 09:45

Hourglass Caution Extreme Length Mascara. Game changer. I have weirdly oily lids and work in a warm building. Really extending. If you put several coats on ( for an evening look) it looks like false eyelashes. It doesn't smudge or flake off and comes off really easily with warm water so no scrubbing or expensive eye make up remover. Will never look back.

MilitantFaucet · 31/12/2021 09:51

I love clinique high impact which was my first experience of tubing mascara but hourglass caution is even better. Stays put, looks great, comes off easily. L’Oréal do a decent one that’s less £££.

LiveFromNewYork · 31/12/2021 12:07

Just doesn’t smudge.

I have these ones:

www.glossier.com/products/lash-slick

I don’t think it’s always very clear what is a tubing one, asked this very question on here a while back!

Flyinggeese1234 · 31/12/2021 12:49

Agree LiveFromNewYork the manufacturers never seem to use the word ‘tubing’ so how do people know which is a tubing mascara and which is not? E.g. thethoughtfox I love the sound of the Hourglass one but nowhere in the description does it say tubing’ so how do you know?

BabyPigeon83 · 31/12/2021 12:54

@ElinorOliphant They tend not to say clearly that it's a tubing mascara, but the hint is when they say it's removed by warm water (in the "how to use/remove" or description blurb on the websites).
I recommend the unlocked extreme length and definition mascara from hourglass, it's expensive but looks amazing and it's bullet proof until it's removed easily with warm water. I wait for sales to get it. I also like lash power from Clinique, it looks natural and stays put. I have very oily eyelids.

ButNotTonight20 · 31/12/2021 12:59

I wear PPE for work and I find tubing mascara works the best. Regular mascara falls down with the steam from the mask and waterproof is clumpy and not volumising.

I recently discovered the Victoria Beckham tubing mascara and it's amazing.

madisonbridges · 31/12/2021 12:59

I use loreal double extension beauty tubes. Once it dries, it doesn't smudge.

Somebodylikeyew · 31/12/2021 12:59

Blinc make decent tubing mascara.

I’m not convinced all the ones being recommended in this thread are tubing mascaras- some look to be regular or fibre based ones which look great on me for approximately half an hour before sliding off Grin

I'm also a convert. Much nicer than crispy waterproof mascara.
ferneytorro · 31/12/2021 13:35

I use Kevin Aucoin tubing mascara, before that I used another one (Kanebo?) but that's been discontinued. I've small and deep set eyes so my lashes are constantly brushing against my eyelids and with normal mascara just rubbed off onto my skin. This stays put and only needs hot water to remove the "tubes". Over the years I have tried many waterproof mascaras that have just run - with the exception of Double Wear.

NotquitewhatImeant · 31/12/2021 14:21

Tubing mascara fan here. Recently tried the Victoria beckham beauty one as a friend recommended it and surprisingly it’s really good! The brush is a bit small/weird but it’s my current favourite.

BatPrint · 31/12/2021 14:31

I use the No 7 one as well, so easy to remove with just water and doesn't smudge at all. It's not great with giving volume though.

MonkeysandParrots · 31/12/2021 14:37

I used to use the KA mascara but switched to this one following a recommendation on here .. it’s tubing and amazing, definitely recommend (although am also considering the hourglass one now)

YouSetTheTone · 31/12/2021 15:17

I use the Hourglass one mentioned above. Agree the labelling is annoying, as it’s only when you look at the product info and it says ‘can remove with warm water’ (or similar) when it becomes clear it’s a tubing mascara.

But I LOVE it. Deep set eyes here too so mascara often smudged below my eyebrows. I love not having to use oily makeup remover to get it off as that used to mean I got milia. It feels cheaper and eco friendly too not having to buy another plastic bottle for eye make up remover but I’m not sure how eco friendly the clumps going down the drain are…

The Hourglass one gives a good length/ thickness IMO. I used to use YSL Faux Cils and can’t really tell much difference between them.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 31/12/2021 15:45

Victoria Beckham mascara is my HG. It doesn't smudge and it comes odd really easily. I love it.

ElinorOliphant · 31/12/2021 17:09

I bet loads of people haven’t even heard of it.

Thankyou for all the recommendations. It’s definitely a plus that it’s easy to remove,I too hate waterproof crispy lashes!

Another vote for the Victoria Beckham one. Clinique was a favourite too but I like the smaller brush on the VB one

MabelMoo23 · 01/01/2022 00:24

Hourglass here , bloody love it

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 01/01/2022 01:20

Maybelline Snapscara is tubing mascara - cheap and cheerful and does the job. Also Revlon Mega Multiplier, with the turquoise lid. I have used these and the No7 one. I had stopped wearing mascara because it always ended up all over my eyelids and smudged under my eyes. Tubing mascara stays put until you actively decide to remove it with warm water. Brilliant stuff.

I don't know why the word 'tubing' isn't widely used in manufacturers' descriptions. It's quite difficult to find which mascara is the tubing one,
