Need to look fabulous for a wedding!

So I have left it very late as I was convinced the wedding would be cancelled but seems to be going ahead on 3rd Jan so need a dress.
I always look a bit scruffy and either frumpy or slutty when I try to dress nice and I really don't want that this time.
If you were a tall size 20 with a round tummy but wanted to look glamorous what would you wear? No jumpsuits as I can't bear the thought of stripping off to go to the loo 😂
Mumsnet I am in your hands!

Are they not a bit dark for a wedding?
The bridesmaid is wearing a gold lamee (so?) jumpsuit so it's a very glamorous wedding

Add a hat www.etsy.com/uk/listing/693868431/hestia-navy-fuchsia-gold

And some gold heels & clutch and you're suitably glamorous and festive for the occasion

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/12/2021 15:53

Slutty?

Alvinne · 29/12/2021 15:55

I wore this to a wedding recently and loved it www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/ET853/product/details/show.action

But this might fit your event better www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/LL352/product/details/show.action

Not sure if the link will work but I got this lovely dress from Next - it's by myleen class. It's comfy to wear and very flattering (in my humble opinion!) And would look lovely dressed up with a pair of heels.

I really recommend having a personal shopping session at John Lewis if you’re near one. I went with my sister when she needed an outfit for a wedding and they were fabulous. She ended up with something she’d never have picked herself.

mnahmnah · 29/12/2021 16:16

I love this. Very flattering style. Glam up even more with gold accessories

I love that batwing dress 🤩 @Alvinne

VictoryLap · 29/12/2021 16:34

Another vote for the silver batwing dress. Glam and flattering.

LiterallyKnowsBest · 29/12/2021 16:43

I’d suggest you keep an eye on Reformation. They’re a bit low on stock at the moment but do usually have a very good selection of size 20 (and bigger and smaller) dresses. Their velvet clothes are particularly lovely.

This is gorgeous, I have a very similar cut dress from Monsoon and it hides lumps and bumps nicely. I bought it when I was about your size and every one comments on how nice I look in it

HermioneWeasley · 29/12/2021 18:45

I vote for thr silver batwing dress.

Do not add a hat. Have your hair blow dried instead and wear big statement earrings

GreenClock · 29/12/2021 18:52

I love that silvery batwing dress - it would look super on a tall woman.

What shoes would suit it, other than strappy sandals?

I agree, but I think you could get away with ankle boots with it

Absolutely not for a wedding! Especially a glamorous one.

Jalapinot · 29/12/2021 21:05

I'm the same size but a bit shorter and bought this recently and was really pleased with it

Daisypod · 29/12/2021 21:52

Thanks everyone some nice idea here but not keen on the batwing I'm afraid, I've had dresses that shape before and they make me look even more huge! I like the monsoon one.
A lot still seem a bit not glam enough, sorry Blush I hate being my size as I know I'm limited.

@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping

Slutty?
I thought that was a bizarre choice of words, too. Hmm
Daisypod · 29/12/2021 22:17

Sorry I couldn't think of any other way of putting it BlushI went to one wedding where I was in such a rush I took a lot of dresses I had brought and had delivered but not tried on, I had also taken a dress borrowed from a friend. None of the brought dresses fitted and although I am the same size clothes as my friend I am a bit bigger on top and my boobs almost fell out of it several times at the wedding!
