Cashmere jumpers

So I am looking for a new cashmere jumper. Where would you recommend for price and quality?

I got a fabulous one from Uniqlo this season. Much better quality than my last season m and a one.

I'm a big Uniqlo fan too, having heard them recommended here.

I like the uniqlo ones too. I have a m & s one as well, which is also fab, but bobbles a lot quicker than the uniqlo one. Both go in washing machine

Oh, I'm finding the uniqlo ones disappointing quality compared with previous years.

I saw a couple show and m&s came out very favorably!!!

Agree with others generally go for uniqlo but this year's are different in a not good way

I recently bought one from cocoacashmere. It was really good quality and liked their different styles. They now have a sale on as well so eyeing up a couple more.

M&S quality isn't as good as it was. I would prefer to buy high quality cashmere second hand. You can get some bargains.

I've recently bought one from Banana Republic and I'm very impressed. It's twice the thickness and weight of my M&S one.

I'm not impressed with this season's Uniqlo cashmere. The jumpers seem much thinner than the ones I bought a few years ago.

High end - N Peal and Loro Piana for top quality yarn and design. It's expensive - LP especially (though there's sales at the moment) but I still wear things I bought more than 10 years ago so it's good value for money. I even wash it on the handwash cycle in the machine.

Mid range - Belinda Robertson does a lot of nice sporty/casual stuff. Again long-lasting.

High Street - I like M&S for basic cashmere at. It's not brilliant quality but lasts a few years and is still better than other high street brands. The styling is not inspired but good enough. Colours are generally okay though I once bought a twinset sold separately called Nutmeg that I realised should have been named Baby Shit. It also had gold thread on the cuffs that I didn't notice in the shop. But I could take it back. I'd stay away from their patterns - they really like stars and snowflakes. That said I got a cardigan with wide horizontal stripes in purple and acid green that stayed on the To Be Returned pile for a fortnight until I reprieved it. It's much nicer than it sounds.

Just picked a beautiful one up from the White Company on sale. Their cashmere is always great.

Johnstons of Elgin currently have a sale on and everything is made in Scotland and it has good ethics.

What’s Uniqlo’s sizing like? The last time
I ordered knitwear from them (years ago) everything was on the small side.

Uniqlo or m&s but buy from the mens section.

At the pricey end, I rate Vince and Aethel, both of which I have put through their paces on wash and wear. The cashmere holds up really well. I use the wool cycle on my Miele washing machine.

Amanda Wakeley is also good but has gone out of business. I think you can still get some of the stock on Brand Alley. I should add I've only ever put cashmere pieces to the test, not any of the cashmere/silk mixed tops.
