Shaping jeans

DS is 5 months old. We took some photos on Xmas day and I was unpleasantly surprised how unflattering my jeans were on me or rather how I'm not as in shape as I thought.

I know I have some weight to lose but not much and I thought I looked good in some Next jeggings I've got but actually they cut into my belly and have me a two big spare tyres.

I need some new jeans!

Seraphine do some a bit like maternity over bump jeans that promise to shape a postpartum tum but I have their leggings and I find them a bit uncomfortable to put on and they ride down like tights sometimes do.

I have seen good reviews about Spanx ones but they only seem to go up to the belly button which makes me worry they will cause the same problem as the Next ones.

Any recommendations most welcome please!

I really like both the Next and M&S shaping jeans for post baby. They both kind of lift everything. They are both fairly expensive for Next and M&S though and not very long lasting but that might be fine whilst you get back to your old shape.

Hotyogahotchoc · 28/12/2021 09:57

I think the Next ones are the ones I have and I thought they were great til I saw a photo of myself!

Maybe I just need a baggier jumper?! Grin

Spanks!

Hotyogahotchoc · 28/12/2021 21:05

Spanx skinny high waisted Jeans.
About €100
I'm size 14-16 & bought the large

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 29/12/2021 00:03

I've ordered some M&S ones - will report back!

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 00:54

That's helpful @fastingworks as I'm not sure which size to get

I'm a 10-12 (maybe more 10?) so medium maybe

I thought I might be able to get them in the Jan sales but they dive appear to be discounted

@MaybeHeIsMyCat please do!

Do you mean the Spanx Jeanish range? I have some and love them, but wouldn't recommend them at all based on the problem you describe as they're very much a mid rise and will highlight any weight you're carrying around your middle. If you do decide to try them though, I'd probably go with a medium if you're a 10-12. I'm an 8-10 and have them in a small, but they're not a generous fit at all.
allfurcoatnoknickers · 29/12/2021 03:30

JBrand Photoready are AMAZING. See if you can track some down in the sales somewhere. Proper suck it all in technology Grin

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 04:59

Thanks @GiltEdges that was my fear so that's helpful to know

I was an 8 pre pregnancy. I'm probably a 10 now more than A12. So that makes sizing difficult and I don't really want to spend £90 for them to only fit a few months

I suppose really I just need to lose some weight but I need some jeans to wear in the meantime Grin

They sound fab @allfurcoatnoknickers I will have a look!

Next have tonnes of jeans , go into a big store and try loads on . Ask the staff for advice

Hotyogahotchoc · 29/12/2021 08:33

The Next shaping ones are the ones that looked awful in a Christmas Day photo

I want some shaping jeans or maybe just some other skinny jeans or jeggings but think I need them higher rise

I work for them and we have soo many different jeans , I agree some are grim ! The best sellers are the most unflattering in my opinion .

fastingworks · 29/12/2021 15:05

Here's a video I found good.(Spanx)

If you are 5.5" or under best to go for short/petite/or ankle grazers.
High waisted salsa jeans are good too.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 30/12/2021 12:01

@Hotyogahotchoc the M&S ones came today and are really nice
They feel firm but stretchy enough to be comfy snd high rise (I'm 5ft 10)

Hotyogahotchoc · 30/12/2021 15:29

Thank you @fastingworks the video is helpful and I am about 5'4-5'5

I'd usually go regular

I wonder if there's somewhere o can try them on

@MaybeHeIsMyCat Which M&S jeans have you got?

OP posts:
MaybeHeIsMyCat · 30/12/2021 15:32

I got these in indigo mix

I think they do a straight/slim leg too

JaceLancs · 30/12/2021 19:16

D jeans from tkmaxx - any of the high waisted styles

IamGusFring · 30/12/2021 19:19

I got shaping ones from Next and they were the worst thing ever . They were high rise but there was so much material and material was so thick . Now I stick with my M and S or my Matalan cheapies .
