Direct dye removal

Used Crazy Colour, which is a semi-permanent direct dye - I think it's basically a vegetable dye - in dark red and burgundy shades. I now want to remove it to go blonde. It's faded but still holding strong after some weeks.

I will use bleach later on but wanted to know if anyone has successfully managed to remove excess reddish tones from direct dye before and if so how? I'd rather get as much of the red tones out without bleach as possible.

I know things like ColourB4 exist but they only work on permanent dyes and not direct dyes. I am using Head Shoulders shampoo as per google advice but can't see much difference.

Thanks
