What facial device to get, NuFace, Foreo, Dennis Gross?

I've been thinking for a while I need something to up my skin care routine and want to narrow down what I want so I can keep an eye on the sales. I'm mid 30's, ok skin, no lines - probably as I'm on the oily side, I get a couple of small spots a month usually chin/jaw but nothing major. I feel like my features are becoming softer and less defined so just want something that will give a toning effect.

I had been looking at Nuface or Foreo bear but I fell down the device rabbit hole and found myself wondering about the LED Dennis Gross masks (££) or the facial mask device by Foreo.

Can anyone share their experiences with any of the above? Or suggest something else? I would prefer something under £200 but I can spend more for something that works.

Hmm difficult choice..the bear and nuface do the same thing, the nuface is older tech and your ‘routine’ takes longer…with both, to get a lifting effect and that sharpness you need to be consistent, as in 5x a week to get and maintain results. I have the nuface, it works, but am debating upgrading to the bear, simply because of the shorter time!

LED light, is more brightening and skin improvement than lifting as such. I have the current body mask, which is slightly cheaper than the dr Dennis mask, but a similar price point. Does it work, yes and i think the results are more noticeable than anything else I’ve used.

Foreo face mask, I looked at but haven’t tried, not convinced, but no direct experience so just from what I read online.

It all works, the tech is quite basic. Do you need blue light or red light more? The extra £ gets you more LEDs per inch.

Some other options might be non-brand ones like this one www.stressnomore.co.uk/collagenius-collagen-therapy-led-facial-mask-11743.html I really like that store, they have good 20% off offers around Easter and august bank holiday weekend but their stock goes quickly too. The Lumie one has good reviews as well www.amazon.co.uk/Lumie-Clear-Treatment-Light-Therapy/dp/B003G3VU3E?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Before I did a roaccutane course, I used this £80 device www.lookfantastic.com/talika-free-skin-anti-blemish-device/11418613.html . I used it on huge deep spots for 3 minutes a couple of times a day and it would reduce the swelling and redness and my skin would be flat at the site of the spot. So blue light worked for me. I liked it a lot as could carry around and use it whenever.

I did a lot of reading around the masks last year, there was one really good article comparing them, I’ll try to find it. I didn’t buy one in the end as the summary seemed to be it’s worth it in comparison to the cost of paying for these facials and that’s not what my lifestyle is now. I also think the market is rapidly innovating and in a year or two there’ll be something much better, I bought the Talika pen 4 years ago and a lot more on market now.

No 7 have one too now if you have points that need spending (and if you need a household device can earn lots of points by buying it through www.bootskitchenappliances.com/) www.boots.com/no7-laboratories-age-defying-led-mask--10286302

Interesting thread! DP bought me a non branded one, is there anywhere I can find advice about routines/ times/ etc? He bought it to help with rosacea redness and I'd love a bit of brightness.

phoebeb19 · 27/12/2021 09:43

I'd recommend the bear from foreo for toning. I have the mini version which is a bit cheaper and more targeted. Depending on the area you're most concerned about, the mini could be right for you. I've had mine for about a year and I still use it. I prefer the shape, it doesn't have a bulky handle and it's very easy to keep clean because of it's silicone body. You really get what you paid for with foreo devices so whichever you decide to get will def be worth it.

Uptoongirl · 27/12/2021 10:48

@Torres10 that's really helpful advice between the bear and NF. Daily use I don't mind but a shorter time would be better - do you use yours in the morning or evening? I'll have a look at the current body mask, I don't mind paying more for something that gives results.

@BakeOffRewatch thanks for the links, I'll have a look. I think I need more of a red light. I like the price point of the No7 one you linked but the first five reviews I can see all say it has broken within a short time frame!

@Uptoongirl, I use mine in the evening usually. To be honest it's the only time I can fit 10mins in! Mornings always seem too hectic and it's the first thing that goes when I'm short of time.

Re LED, it is worth checking out if masks offer both red & infra red as both have benefits and I think some advertising is a bit sneaky not making it obvious!

Does the Bear work on sagging chin/neck area or just face?

Nanoo1234 · 27/12/2021 15:22

Do these replace the need for fillers as in they re shape the face muscles.. ? I have had fillers to fill out my cheeks as u have lost a huge amount of facial structure post menaupause.
Also ,can these be used with fillers.
Cannthey replace volume , sharpen jaw line etc? Thanks

Journeynotdestination · 28/12/2021 10:30

I use the Foreo Bear and it’s brilliant on my jawline & neck. It does tone my upper face too, but my jawline and lower face benefit the most. I love it.

DinoDora · 28/12/2021 15:04

I've just bought a bear (gulp) after lots of googling and mn threads.

Does it help tighten crows feet area? They're not that deep but do crinkle when I smile.

Uptoongirl · 31/12/2021 17:17

Just an update, I've bought the Bear and a Sensee LED mask. Look Fantasic had a good deal on the full sized bear with serum for £200 and I got the LED mask on Boots for £110.

Thanks to those who offered advice, I'm going to take some before and progress pics to see if there is any improvement.

I tried my bear today and couldn't really feel anything, even on the max setting! Is this normal? I expected it to sting a bit or something!

pollyroo · 02/01/2022 19:18

I've got the Dr Dennis Gross LED mask ....

WOW. The. Results.Are. Fab!

Best face product/device I've ever bought.

Gardeniafleur · 02/01/2022 19:21

How do these interact with Botox? My practitioner hadn’t heard of FOREO bear but said not to combine that with Botox just in case??

All advice welcome!

Are you using the app? I am a newbie to the bear too and for some reason find mine only seems to work properly with the app.
snackodactyl · 03/01/2022 14:22

Was handed down a barely used NuFace mini and have completed three treatments so far. I like it but am assuming the full routine helps get the full benefit, which is time consuming. That being said if it’s 5 days a week for 6 weeks and then maintenance after that it’s worth the slog.

I like the sound of the Foreo bear as an upgrade though.

I wouldn’t say they address skin concerns though, more about facial toning? Think a good skincare routine in addition to this would complete the picture.

ratussbaguss · 03/01/2022 18:29

@bizboz yes using the app. I don't think it works without it?

I feel like it's doing something now, if I go too near my eyes I feel a twinge which is reassuring!
