LED Face Masks Any Good

Ok, so I am a bit late to the party and now realise that LED face treatment masks are the latest thing for ageing skin.

Thing is, do they actually work? And if they do, any suggestions for a cheaper/mid range model as I don't fancy forking out hundreds....😬

Watching with interest, I'd not only like to find something effective but cheap too!

Torres10 · 26/12/2021 21:24

Yes they work, but you need to use them maybe 3x a week to see a difference. They kind of make you glow a little and take that dullness away if that makes sense. Apparently they build collagen etc too, but it’s harder to prove that I think!
I have the Current body mask, it was about £250 & I think it was worth it.
I started with the Project E mask mind which is about £100 and also works, but is only red light not Near infra red.
If you can afford a mask that combines both wavelengths it is better as NIR penetrates deeper thus giving you better results.

Just had a bit of deja vu as there’s a similar thread where I’ve just put some links www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/4436275-What-facial-device-to-get-NuFace-Foreo-Dennis-Gross

No 7 have one for £150

I just got the "light stim" for Christmas. It was recommend by Cassandra Bankson who I love.

I've actually just bought some sunbed eye covers haha because when I tried it on Christmas day I found it very bright and I have sensitive eyes.

I'll use 3x per week and report back. It will take a good 20 mins.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I do try and take care of my skin. I use SPF 50 as standard most days etc and used premium skincare when younger although can't afford it really now. I use The Ordinary which is reasonably priced and seems to work ok.

I'm now mid fifties and starting to look older. I have always looked younger than my age but in the last couple of years things have caught up with me.I think it is the collagen depletion and lack of tone which the skincare can't really help.

I will invest in a LED product, but now, reading responses and looking on the other thread linked to, I think I need a toning device too. I just hope that its not too late ⏰ !

Interesting thread! DP bought me a non branded one, is there anywhere I can find advice about routines/ times/ etc? He bought it to help with rosacea redness and I'd love a bit of brightness.

Thanks Torres10. I have decided to get the Current Body too. Seems the best option at a mid price point and like you said, has near infrared which cheaper models don't. Found a code online which takes the current Christmas Pack down to £239. 🤞🤞🤞

I bought the Aduro a few months ago and have used it nearly daily. I wouldn't be without it now. I got it for just over £200 with a code.

I use the red and green settings everyday but it's got a full range of colours which is why I went for it. I believe it's reduced the pigment around my eyes and plumped up the skin on the eyes too, I swear my crows feet are lessened. I have no before/after pics though.

What made me finally invest though was a review by Doctorly on YouTube (on masks LED not the aduro specifically), they are 2 dermatologists who discuss products, ingredients and gadgets based on actual research so I trust them. Interestingly they dont think there is the research to support the use of nuface etc but they do believe in the light masks.

I still want a toning device as well though but might wait for some more research.

Just realised that the Current Body only has red lights, so have sent an email to cancel my order. I also want it for my son's teenage acne so need one with blue light too! I will order the Aduro instead. Thanks for the recommendation Bbub! So complicated trying to get the right mask 😂

Let me find the discount code for you before you order it!

Bbub · 27/12/2021 21:27

It's CLAUDIA10

I found it from some random YouTuber review vid I think u get 10%, it worked for me a couple of months ago.

Hope it helps for your son too, there def seems to be evidence to support the blue light for treating acne 🙂

RubyFakeLips · 27/12/2021 22:11

Just wanted to suggest about routines, I use mine every evening, after cleansing I tend to put on when straight out of bath/shower and then get on with doing body moisturiser, changing into pyjamas etc. I have the No7 one which goes on for 10 minutes, think most have a timer, research I read said this was sufficient daily and works best on clean skin.

I’ve found very easy to build into routine and having had it for 10 months, I feel it does make a difference.

The boots one is red only, I got mine when it was on offer for £80 (and paid with points!) as a starting point. For anyone not looking to spend too much initially I’d recommend and it’s frequently reduced. I plan to upgrade at some point, maybe to include other colours.

That's brilliant - thanks Bbub! Just waiting to having my order confirmed as cancelled and I will then order the Andura mask. Been looking at reviews and they are really good.

Ok, so just used Bbuto's code and got the Aduro mask for £214.20 delivered. Happy with this as, because it has lots of colours, it can be used by the rest of the family too. Thank you Bbuto!
