Gel nail varnish at home

I dragged out my lamp today. Never really got into it but I had zero time to salon and have painted them so much during lockdown that my aim/ finessse has improved so I thought I'd go for it. Bought base and top cost off eBay ages ago and went to Sally for a polish (for the muggles) and a finishing wipe bottle - £10!!!
The polish went on ok but doesn't look super shiny and I felt like the finishing stuff took some polish off. Do some top coats not need the last wipe? I'm keen to try again so all advice welcome. I'd love to do a french manicure

I've used a "no wipe top coat" from Amazon. I just checked, there's a Mygel £8.50 one. I haven't got my gel nails to last anywhere near as long as they do at a salon, but for convenience I like to do them at home.

That's the answer then! Perfect! I wonder if mine would be ok without a wipe. Might do one of the dull ones again. Can't be arsed taking it off to start again

It shouldn’t be dull, maybe the topcoat stuff isn’t great quality? When I wipe mine at the end they are glossy. Or you haven’t cured for long enough?
