How to get rid of hair dye?

I've used a hair dye stripping box. Followed the instructions, covered my head in cling film, warmed regularly with a hair drier and...nothing. Maybe a flash of ginger in places.

Are all non-bleach solutions a waste of money (this was based on ascorbic acid) and should I just suck it up and book myself at a salon? Or go for bleach? I have dark brown hair (dye) and was hoping to get to whatever is underneath (mostly grey) and then a pink on top. I have a back-up brown if it all goes wrong.

I’ve stripped my hair and went bright orange! Looked like a Sainsbury’s carrier bag!!! Ran up to Superdrug with a hood on in summer and bought a dark brown colour just to cover the mess

Shouldn't laugh but I've been there before 😂 Did you use bleach? I thought I'd avoid the carrot effect by using this non-bleach colour stripping. Literally money down the drain; it didn't do a thing.
